I've got a scammer on the hook, he has sent me a MO in excess of the item he purports to purchase. Now he wants me to wire him the balance.
How can I turn the tables fully and get a pic into the Hall of Shame? |

Welcome to Eater!
First of all: I recommend getting a mentor here
As for the picture: I assume your lad is familiar with the extra security that is required when transferring to <insert country here> or with amounts above <amount here>?
It's not your fault that Western Union requires him to provide a security picture of him holding a sign with <insert funny text here> |

I suggest taking a look around at the stickies and Eater University. You can find a ton of advise there on what you wish to do. |

Good luck. Let us know how it worked out.
Remember: if it doesn't work this time, there's plenty of other lads out there.
By the way..you are baiting safely? (not using email that is connected to your real life details in any way?) |

thanks for reminding me of another question. All my scammers reach me via text to my cell phone. My cell phone # is published on Craigslist and associated with some used furniture I am selling.
Is there a risk of my identity being ferreted out that I am missing? |

Do not EVER use any email/telephone number that can be connected to you.
The risk of a scammer turning up at your doorstep might be low, but it is to be avoided at all costs.
STOP all contact immediately. Baiting safely is rule #1! |

Bummer, well I suppose I've wasted enough of his time over the past 3 weeks so ... mission accomplished.
I'll need a different strategy for using Craigslist from now on and have an email alias that I can use already, so scammers beware! |

If you read the stickies as my mentor Bware suggested, you will find some methods of ' harvesting' scamming emails...There's enough to go around.
And very wise to just drop this one...(y) |
