In the past couple of days, I've been seeing a bunch of emails in my catcher account asking me to send ridiculously low amounts of money (as in, $58 and $68 ) before the end of the year.

The funny part is that the lads aren't trying to run any sort of reasonable-sounding scam, and aren't even asking for names/addresses/account transfer info/etc. The gist of the emails comes down to "I have this money I would like to send you but you need to send me some first. Thanks and, by the way, here is my WU info."

So ... do they need to do some last-minute shopping for their little lads and ladettes?

I would say Yes.

My Catcher usually has around 400 Messages in the Spam folder but it is now around 700 and most of my Wayward Lads have returned to get them some Xmas Cash.

Yep. In my Yahoo IM I have heard from a bunch of Lad-ettes who have been dormant for months who have said things like "how have you been, Christmas is coming, can you send me something....?"

Yes they do. Demands of petty amounts of cash shoot up before christmas.

Looks like i will be getting a piggy from a lad who has tried to run 2 scams on me ....if he comes good thats 2 piggies from the same Lad Laughing

It wont be the same piggy either !

He went dead when he did not get his own way and now seems confused on what he has said and where he is actually up to !

Thanks, all. I tend to have a pretty dim view of human nature in general but I still get astounded as to the depths to which these leeches on society sink.

You can tell when they're desperate and they ask you to send whatever amount you have.

I've had a rash of returning lads for the run-up to Christmas, and they are obviously trying to squeeze a little more money out of the people who replied to them previously.

This includes some lads who wrote me off as a joker previously, and even one of my sandtimer lads (John Well) who gave me a death threat in his final email before:

He was quite angry with me the, but now he suddenly wants to help me claim my fund again. All is forgiven when there is Christmas money to be made. Very Happy

Sure, lads go Christmas shopping! Just send them a few online store links for expensive stuff they pick out for themselves, "ship it," and watch the change from elation to disappointment!! It sure wastes their time browsing the catalogs, too. Very Happy
