I have spent the last couple weeks reading some of the Greatest Hits. I have literally laughed out loud so many times these last two weeks I can't even count them.

So mostly I just wanted to say hi and THANK YOU to all the good work you all are doing here.

Like many, I suppose, I have decided I should do my part so I snagged a lad off the surplus letters and sent him a reply. I have no delusions of grandeur and I know I could never achieve some of the things I have seen done here but I am stringing him along nicely with my basic stupidity.

Finally, I do fancy myself a competent photoshopper. I do not have a creative bone in my body but if you have a sign you want changed, a face swapped or anything of that nature I am pretty good at it and hereby offer my services to anyone who wants it for a bait.

Anyway thank you all again. You are doing the lords work.

Hi Velveeta, and welcome to Eaters. I still consider myself a Newbie, I think it takes years to get to be as good as some of these guys.

Everyone on here will always help with any problems, and you can get good advice so always ask if you need anything.

If you haven't done so yet, sign up for a mentor. It's the best thing in the world for you when you're just starting out.

And, my PhotoShop skills are virtually non-existent so I may need to take you up on that offer. I've got a couple of baits running that may need some pics in the next couple of weeks.

If you've read the forums you probably are already doing so but at the risk of sounding like a broken record, you are baiting safely?
If you don't know what I mean then please ask but I'm assuming you already know.
I was in your position 6 months ago & never thought I'd get the lads to respond but it happens. The more experienced baiters on here know intuitively how to get the results they want out of a lad but it takes more effort when you're starting, that's all. 3 short bits of bits of 'newcomer' advice - 1. You will lose lads, even the greats on here will tell you that - sometimes they just stop talking to you. 2. Try to have fun when talking to them. They are unpleasant single track minded bottom feeders, try not to get drawn in too deep. I worried enormously about my first bait until I got some confidence. 3. Probably the most useful one - if you find that you enjoy this and want to carry on after the first few weeks then consider joining the mentor program. You will find your learning curve much easier to navigate, they are remarkably tolerant of what you & I might consider dumb questions & they say nice things about you when you graduate ...

Scammers drag victims into a "pit", so I have no problem with helping them out and reporting fake sites on the Sabbath. My fishing characters, though, don't send money on the Sabbath.

Once a pet scammer pretending to be a reverend spouted some out-of-context Bible verses. I responded with some in-context Bible verses.

As for the most important question as to whether or not I am baiting safely. I created a new gmail account with a name that has no relation whatsoever to my real identity, nor to my identity here. and it is used for nothing else.

So I think that is safe.

I am honestly not sure I have the persistence, or the talent/aptitude for serious baiting. When reading some of the stories from the more experienced baiters here each time a situation came up, I was never able to guess what the next step was... and then when I heard I was amazed at the genius and the humor behind it. I don't know if i have that in me.

But this guy I am baiting I am just for now playing dumb and asking questions to try and keep the conversation going. So far so good. I am out to about 4 replies and that has probably taken a week since I am slow to respond.

I love it when new members sign up and want to participate in baiting.

Most of the baits published on Eater are incredibly hilarious. I can't even fathom how the baiters get the lads to do what they do.

I do not have a big enough imagination nor the creativity/talent to what they do, so I just straight bait. You won't find many straight baits published. They're very dry and boring reads. What you do for straight baiting is just play along like you are a real victim.

Just remember, the premise to baiting is to waste the time, money and resources lads have to scam real victims. If we can take that time away and use their resources/money on us, then they won't have it to use on a real victim.

There is a bait in my sig line name "Rosy" and was done by one of the best straight romance baiter at Eater. Read that and you can see how a straight bait works. I use next victims techniques in my baits and it wastes a lot of a lad's time.

We need all the help we can get, so don't dismiss straight baiting!

You might also look at the Fake Bank forum where baiters come across fake websites that are used in AFF (Advanced Fee Fraud) and have them killed (taken down). That is an example of wasting a lad's money and resources. There are a couple of threads in that forum (the stickies) read those and ask questions. I can tell you that taking down the two fake sites in my sig line were one of the most satisfying events in my life.

A lot new members get caught up in the trophies, safaris and tattoos and then become discouraged when it doesn't come so easily and they then give up baiting entirely. That makes us (okay, me!) sad, because we can use all the help we can get, no matter what you are doing. There is a lot more of them than there are of us, and we appreciate all the time and effort everyone puts into baiting, whether it's straight baiting or trying for a church trophy or tattoo. Read the different forums and different types of baits and I am positive you'll find your little niche that will make you invaluable to us all!

Your skills will be much appreciated by those of us who have no aptitude for Photoshop-very kind of you to offer.

Don't worry about getting all thr trophies, safaris etc-what's important is to waste the lad's time and resources. Every second he spends writing to you means he leaves another victim alone. Collecting piggies (bank accounts and stolen credit cards) seriously damages scammer's earning capacity.

As foor know where a bait is going at any particular time, well, a lot of us just go with the flow or wait for inspiration. Straight baiting is an essential skill.

Appreciate the encouragement and rest assured I am not really concerned about earning badges and sending lads on long safaris. Not that I would not want to do all those things but I doubt I have the time or resourcefulness to pull anything like that off.

the bait I am engaged in right now is little more than a test of what the back and forth feels like. I'll consider it a success if I can simply keep the exchange going for 3 weeks.

Wasting a lad's time is always a success, no matter if it is 3 weeks or 3 years. As for the badges it's completely reasonable to work toward a piggy. I know I'm not the only person drooling over Velveeta covered bacon.

Have you signed up for a mentor yet? If you want to elevate your game there is no better resource than the mentor program.

True, true, true! Next to "Bait Safely" and "Have Fun", what SBAH said should be the most important rule here at Eater.

Baiting isn't about badges and funny pics and safaris and tattoos and church memberships. Similarly, if you're baiting to get rich and/or famous -- boy, are *you* in the wrong place. It's about wasting lads' time and getting them invested in whatever crazy-ass reality you have constructed for them.

While the other stuff will come with time, just be pleased the first time a lad sends you some venomous rant for not moving quickly enough. As far as I'm concerned, that's the best feedback in the world. Smile

Oh man, I can only hope for an angry email, especially one where I am threatened with the wrath of my Mayor. I wish I understood what the Mayor threat was all about, but I know I want one regardless. I don't even live in an incorporated city so I really would love to meet my Mayor just to find out who he is and what his/her job is (aside from arresting people).

Have not signed up for a mentor yet. might do so soon. In my one and only bait I am still learning how to put skype on my computer. This may take some time though because I am a pretty slow learner. Not that that should lead anyone to underestimate me, I am still a very good businessman!

I'm a Newbie and will be one for a long time yet !

The best advice is: get all the advice you can. Get a Mentor. Invaluable.

I have read so much of what goes on here and I manage to make mistakes....so many of them. However, as I am assured, so does everyone and just learn by them.

Getting Bank Accounts is a result and I never cease to wonder at them giving me the information... flags and badges are great, but what I love more is the serious English and their so terrible grammar. But then I am easily amused.

I actually haven't had a good rant yet and I live in hope ! It's my next 'goal'.

I'm Skypeophobic ... I have promised I'll have a go after Christmas.... but at present I don't Skype or phone !

If you look on here you'll see the thread for the Orphanage bait. Please feel free to join in.... to me Orphanage lads are almost as low as you can go (not quite, those dying of cancer really disgust me)... so come and join us.

But... Eater is a great place and community. Enjoy..... happy crowd

Welcome Velveeta! I'm rather new myself, too, and am still learning. I had baited half-heartedly here and there (mostly safely) before finding this place and I'm so glad I found Eater. They showed me whole new ways to bait and be even more safe about it. After signing up I waited a couple of months to do a real bait because I wanted to take the time to read as many of the stickies and info that I could just to make sure. It was worth my time.

I take the advice of the more experienced to heart and I'm sure you do, too. There are some amazing baiters here, aren't there?

Welcome! Although I am by no means an expert, I have been scambaiting and have been a member of this site off and on for 5 years. You sound exactly like I did when I first started. What you are doing is exactly what you should be doing to start out. Exchange some emails and feel out how the whole process goes. Keep in mind that although lads have many similar traits, each one is still unique in their own way. Don't worry about making mistakes because there are always more lads to bait. Have fun with it, and like others have said, bait safely! Very Happy

OK so I have pushed my Lad around with my own stupidity and just taking days to reply, only to ask yet another stupid question. I had him sign up for gmail so he could chat with me and then I couldn't even figure out how to log into chat.

I simply ignored his request for my passport of DL, and now he has just gone straight to having me fill out the "form"

So now I think I need mentor help. How do I get me one of them.

Alternatively someone could just give me some tips on what to do here.

I can still string him out for several more days just through poor communication so no serious rush.

PS: Why are they called "lads"?

Welcome! I just joined last month and I am honestly having the best time I have had in a long time. I may bug you on that photoshop offer as my skills are non-existent.

I just had a lad (I don't know why they are called that, sorry) want me to fill out a form so to stretch time out, I scanned the backside of the paper and sent it to him (my character is 75 and just got the scanner). I also did not fill it out correctly for my next move.

Just have him keep doing more work than necessary. Time wasted on you is time he can't spend on a real victim. Also come up with reasons you can only pay him thru a bank transfer so we can get those accounts reported!

Great move on the mentor. I love mine and she didn't even pay me to say that! Also, read these https://forum.419eater.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=252599. Best tutorials. Hands down.

I'd love to offer up a photoshop request, if I may. Many of the loan lads I have been dealing with are privy to Western Union's online transfers. It sure would be a shame if there was a nice error message that I could send them to show that it's not working.

Get really uppitty with them. Especially if you have an elderly persona. How on earth can they expect you to use Western Union? You need a bit of security. Now if this is going to go forward, and you want the money, it's Bank account or no deal. You can always offer to add extra on for 'Bank Charges'..

Appeal to their greed.... and keep mentioning money ! I mean,' this is all on email,' you need a bit of security. If he starts to seem like giving in, talk like you are in charge... thank him... he'll be smug thinking he's got one over on you. Also, straight bait at first. Don't try to put all sorts in there. I found that I was getting many more scam emails (before they realised they weren't getting anything) so I'm sure I'm on some lists somewhere.

Also I fabricated an email said to come from Santander. Just used the logo, put some details in and at the bottom put a bit that said 'for the account holder only' and put a Balance before the transfer then balance after... make it look a big balance. I've used it to good effect, especially with 'lovers'.

'Lads' I asked that at first.. means nothing in particular.... just a nickname.

I am having the best time doing this... it takes over..I haven't had to much time to do this at present and honestly I'm wanting to get back to it so much !!

Anyone wanting some good email addresses to help me with some baits... I am going to need some for the loan lad... not to start yet but shortly. Orphanage lads too.... just PM me.
