4 days later, Broke and discouraged the Lads let up long enough for me to catch up on my reports. Too bad Knuckleheads!!!

I am not very knowledgeable on hardware/networking, but could transferring to a cloud server/service mitigate the problems of a DDoS attack?

I have a Windows Azure hosting service as part of my 0365 business account, and from what I have read, the way "true" cloud hosting works, it would help mitigate DDoS attacks.

We already have those kinds of measures in place. Unfortunately, mitigation does not equal elimination and these are some pretty PO'd scammers.

Although still under attack we have managed to mitigate it pretty well. We moved the server again this morning, as of right now the speed is still pretty good and it looks like users are getting in.... right - back to work everyone Smile

They must be quite well organised to maintain this surely. Knowing absolutely nothing about how it works.... but surely it isn't easy to take something down with such a sustained assault over such a long time.

Do we ever find out where the attacks are from?

Sometimes you do - sometimes you don't, who cares. Even if they bring us down for an extended period of time, we will simply come back at a later stage, it's not like we are a corporation employing people or anything like that. We are a team of volunteers that want to do the right thing.

Back in 07 we were attacked for over a month, we came back stronger than before so it really does not matter.

So you are right.. it only enforces the effort to get the word out to as many as possible.

^^^^ Big Al, I only go there when someone posts here to bait a lad. My heart can't handle the destruction it causes the victims and I come away feeling very helpless and depressed. My fiancé asked me not to go there unless it refers to a specific thread in which to get the information to bait a lad. I comply, but tell him what I feel is absolutely nothing compared to what the victims go through. He just doesn't like to see me cry and become depressed. I am so glad there are people who help the victims and that there is a place for them to go.

Anyway, I just hope they bugger off and stop the DDoS attack.

I did get though. There was some sort of scan out there to find out if i was a DDOS bot.

^^^ Yes that is our DDOS protection kicking in - SW is still under attack. We have purchased cloudflare mitigation which seems to be working, we have not been down since yesterday afternoon. I will keep testing to see if we can do away with the front end BOT check (right now we need it - if I turn that off the server will die) I really don't want to keep paying cloudflare as it costs quite a bit for the business protection, but it is certainly worth it as we have been able to stay up.
