Hello Forum,
My first email acct. was Hotmail and I used my first and last name @ Hotmail for employment related issues back in the nineties. I have never replied to unknown emails because if its to good to true it must be...well you know.

I watched a documentary Doc Zone - Dot Con and the part with your org. was featured and here I am to help.

I am retired and would like to help put a stop to as many of those email scams that acct. receives with your help.

I have read what I can do with your Guidelines, but not sure if I would do as good as you pros.

I can forward those emails to others just because I have to many showing up in that acct..

I don't use the Hotmail for any communication. I do look at it once an awhile since some friends remember my first and last name and then I update them to a private email that is not going around the world of scammers.

Jaxpace - a warm welcome. More senior voices will no doubt be along shortly but before you begin this pastime it's important to ensure that you aren't using your personal information for anything to do with the scammers.
The 'safe baiting' ethos is central to baiting. You would be well advised to grab an account that is non-locatable (if that's a word) such as gmail and then copy and paste the mails from your existing hotmail account and off you go.
The stickies are a goldmine & if you want to take it further apply for a mentor. You'll learn so much quicker.

First thing, Do not Bait any of these scammers from your Hotmail address that has you Real Name associated with it.

Second, it sounds like you just want a nice place to record the scam E-mails you have for others who do not know about the Scams to find. If that is so, please go to our Sister site ScamWarners.com and list the information into the proper forums there.

If you then want to try your hand at Baiting, Setup a nice new G-mail account using all fake information. Transfer any of the E-mails you want to bait to your new G-mail account, Reply to the original Scammer E-mails wiping out any references to your Real Life E-mail account. And have fun!

Also recommended is the Mentor program. You should be able to see a link in the main forum list and join.

Hello Jaxpace.

Get yourself some new email addresses (yahoo, gmail, gmx, hotmail) and have a good time making fake personas.... you can be whoever you want to be !

Get a Mentor.... this is the best piece of advice myself or anyone will give you. My mentor is so patient with me and really encouraging and I am convinced I've done so much better because of that.

Ask questions... sometimes I get a little embarrassed listing yet another question... but you learn and (so far Embarassed

) everyone has been so helpful !!

It was a new world to me too. You get really sucked into it and honestly, I had no idea of the depth of the scammers world until now. It's good to know you are in power when they think they are !

Enjoy.... getting those first piggies is so good and even better it seems is my flag for killing a website. (trying to find more, I loved doing that) Even when I can't do all my emails I always make time for scamwarners.com it's so important to update a comprehensive resource.

Welcome to Eater! If you're getting a lot of scams in your mailbox, you can post them with full headers both here in Surplus and in the appropriate category at Scamwarners. I used to get about one a day, but it's gone down. I use shell scripts to edit several at once, taking out my name and email address and the name of my domain.

Did someone call MissionControl? Welcome to Eater I'd suggest you start by first reading the stickies before you bait. They can help you make up you mind about how much you would like to participate. If you decide to bait and engage with these scammers, open a brand new gmail account that has nothing to do with your real life details-change your location, profession, gender, age etc. This is what we mean by "Safe Baiting"

A mentor can also help you navigate. Feel free to apply for one!.
