I've been trying some small scale (non-scientific!!) experiments with our cash seeking colleagues. (Much credit for motivation goes to the Boss)

1) I tried 3 different ASEMs to see just how much information was needed to elicit a response. The chief result is - not much information at all.
The smallest mail I used which was surprisingly sucessful was 7 words (6 and a number - I'm calling it 7)-

That mail had as many responses as a long preamble about the reasons for the £3450.

2) I ran some loan lad vs lotto lad comparisons - lotto lads are lazier than loan lads was the main result there and

3) I have been trying to see how outlandish replies can be before they give up & move on.

After around 85 mails banging on about WU with Mr A I gave up and decided to use single word replies.

The last 10 replies to him have been yes, no, yes, understood, why, chill, tomorrow, done, no and finally ? after which he gave up & surrendered a piggy ...

Mr S is Bulgarian and seems to rely heavily on Google translate. After 23 mails of varying nonsense I decided to reply in kind.

Has it caused you to re-work your ASEMs?

Ah - forgot the follow-up.

Experiment 4.

Customised ASEMs

I tailored 3 asems to different scams - one for loans, one for lotto & one for AFF's. The 7 word asems above gathered a reply rate of about 4-5 in 20 with perhaps 3-4 pigs out of them - my baseline.

The tailored asems were way more effective. The first loan lad batch had a reply rate of 12 in 20 with around 7 pigs gathered. Lesser stats for the lotto lads (who were lazy - per above) - from memory - 6 from 20 with 4 pigs. The AFF batch is still work in progress but is looking to be somewhere in the middle.
I'm guessing here (more experienced baiters please correct me) but I think that there seems to be an increase in loan lad activity with Christmas coming and they can smell blood in the water. They were replying to the first mails before the last one had been sent.

Obvious caveat here - small sample sizes, no scientific procedure, not very experienced baiter etc etc etc.
