There was an article in the online version of one of the UK papers a few days ago about the whole craze for digital archaeology.

Capone, I was playing some street fighter, but it is pretty hard to execute most special moves on a keyboard. So I switched to golden axe, and finally to galaga. I challenge you to a high score playoff! Are you up for it? Twisted Evil

This makes me want to buy an old arcade box (or even build one), gut it, install a tower with good processing power, put a large old style monitor in for the display to be classic with it, rig up the joystick and buttons to the tower accordingly, and download every single game to a large capacity HDD on that tower.

Personal, old school arcade for the win.

Joker you read my mind. I would love to have this as a portable console. Would be awesome for a little entertainment system.

Anyways, my challenge still stands for anyone. We can each choose one arcade game (pac-man, galaga, etc..) and challenge each other for a high score.. Best of three. Mod can choose the tiebreaker if we go to game 3. haha..

ETA: Wouldn't it be neat though if we had a small little ladder? Winner could get something small that would be allowed by mods (a premium membership). I just miss playing games on tourney ladders. I spent a lot of time when I was younger playing organized first person shooter that would have a small cash prize for the top clan. Obviously, we wouldn't do something too crazy, just maybe a premium membership I would certainly donate. Blahhhhh, just play some games with me! hahaha

Trying using a fast browser. IE doesn't work well.. chrome works pretty well but Firefox is best. It runs the game straight from the browser.

When you run the game hit the spacebar to start the game up.. when it loads hits 5 to enter a coin and then 1 for first player. Controls are arrows for movement and control to fire...

Site is safe.. it's straight from wayback machine.. just archived video games

Capone- let me know if you need help with it. Chrome seems to work best .

There's also the site www.vimm.net I've used for a while , where you can download emulators and roms, although you legally have to delete the game after 24 hours if you don't own it (something like that )

Sega and NES emulators are easier IMO to operate... MAME can be difficult, especially to find a functioning game. However , the Internet arcade is a MAME system , and works rather well. You don't need any separate emulators or roms for Internet arcade. It is just a straight browser run.
