JUST JOINED ...

Got some knob trying to scam me ....looks like a 419 jobbie .

I found this place awhile ago its very good

I have played along with it so far , if she (yea right) replies i will ask you guys for some help but i think i might have over cooked my second reply .

Rev - Welcome.
Before you continue going after this person are you using a personal email account or a completely ficticious one? If it's a personal one or contains any information that relates to you in real life then you should drop the contact straight away & move over to an anonymous account.
More experienced members of the comunity will give you the full run down but the 'safe-baiting' ethos is the number 1 priority here, everything else comes after.
If you decide you want to ruin more of these people's days then please take a look at joining the mentor programme. Now that you have posted here you would be able to request one. They are a wonderful way to gain good knowledge quickly and they rarely take offense at questions asked.

Its a personal email address not a set up one ...but its not on the internet as such .

I guess i should get the scammer to reply to a new fake email addy ....thanks for the advice .
Will take a good look around the forum before i go any further .

The fact that the original contact address has anything connected to your real life is enough to drop the scammer immediately.
If you create a new anonymous account (gmail is good for that because it doesn't give your location away in the mail headers) it's perfectly feasible to copy & paste the first contact mail from the scammer into a reply from the new acccount. From what I've read here & from experience the lads never check who they've sent the messages to in the first place.
Once your new persona has made contact the scammer will reply and you're good to go. The members here are patient and helpful. If you need advice they will help.
I terms of how you can waste their time in the future, there are more ways than I could ever have imagined but the outcome is always ultimately the same - to make them write to you instead of someone innocent.

Rev - with regards to blowing the bait by going too far. Once you've been in contact for a surpringly short length of time a lot of the lads will believe amazing things.
I wanted a night off from baiting this week so I sent this to one lad. He replied by saying that he was praying for my character's recovery:

Lads are generally stupid, Get a fake email account set up then contact him about the same deal. He would have sent the message out to 100's of people and wont remember what emails he sent it to, Just send a mail from new email that answers the original he sent you before. Its probably a scripted mail and he'll have a scripted reply. Good luck and bait safe

Reverend, remember to have a catcher and a baiter adress, and take up a mentor, these people are great and you will learn much faster about things that are not that commonly talked about in the forums (my mentor was the first time I heard about mules for example).

Please have so much fun and give them hell!

And definitely read all those stickies and FAQs ect. You will be much more efficient after that and you also minimize the chance of disturbing other baiters AND most importantly you will do so safely.

Got one on the rod already ....the same one i dumped on my proper email addy i cut and pasted and replied from my fake email .

I have not replied yet i will wait the 24 hrs as advised on here and get a mentor Very Happy

The lad is asking for my bank details to send me a load of inheritence cash and wants to come over to the uk to study to be a doctor ...of course the lad is pretending to be a lush 19 year old female student .....ive traced the pics using "tineye" and there also used to scam on dating sites .

The bank details ......any old made up believable crap will do from what i,ve read on here ..lol..

Welcome The Reverand! You've already been given great advice. Give your mentor a few days as sometimes RL takes them away from baiting (which I think should be illegal in every country, but that's just me).

You should say good-bye to your old life, family and friends and get to know everyone here, as they will now be your new family and friends. I can't wait to read your baits!

Just remember, the goal is to waste their time, money and resources so they can't use them on a real victim. Straight baiting is easy and can be fun. So, while there are hundreds (thousands) of hilarious bait published here on Eater, for every one of those, there are hundreds of just "straight" baits out there that go unpublished. Don't focus too much on trophies and safaris at first, get a feel of who your character is and become that person while writing your emails. The more time your character spends on the lad, the less time he has on a real victim. We see a lot of new members join and then leave if they can't get the trophy or safari right away and give up and that makes us (okay me!) sad as we need all the help we can get! There are more of them then there is of us, so I hope you do stick around and give straight baiting a try.

Remember to bait safe(ly) and most of all HAVE FUN! Razz

Rev - there is tons of advice around here about timing mails. I try and make it a bit random so they can't discern a pattern. It never hurts to wait longer between mails occasionally. It lends a bit of credibility to your character but one piece of advice I read was to go against whatever the lad does. If he rushes off a reply after 5 minutes, wait a couple of days to reply. If he's giving you 3 days between mails then bang one back after 10 minutes. anything to keep him off balance (I can't credit the original poster of that advice because I've forgotten the thread sorry).
I would request a mentor as soon as you can. They really are a goldmine of info and will help prevent you falling in any obvious (to them) holes.
Your first contact sounds an awful lot like the one I had. Please check your PM's.

Edit. ^^^ What SBAH says about straight baiting. I've had a lot of feedback recently about how important straight baiting is. It is easy to concentrate on trophies & safaris etc but there is real value in simply wasting the lad's time.

As to bank details, what country is your character in? My American characters have bank accounts at made-up banks with well-formed routing numbers, account numbers, and SWIFT codes (except that one has a swift code APUSMELBA73, which is in Montenegro, but the lads don't notice). I have a character in England who once needed a bank account. That was a bit more complicated as I had to make a well-formed IBAN with a nonexistent sort code.

I.m here for the long haul , no rush on the mentor i have asked for i know you guys have your own life as i do , the scammer can wait our rush ..lol..

vonpaso xlura........no character in mind yet , and i,m not great with computers but have loads of common sense and want to learn from you guys . I know with this scammer i have jumped in at the deep end but its a learning curve so i will get better at it as i go along .

Need to think of a character that can hang them long term and really piss one of them about Confused

What do you mean, no character? You created a fake email address; it belongs to your character. He/she may not have a personality yet, but he/she has an email address, and presumably a name. Sometime lads are going to ask for:
*name
*address (should be plausible but nonexistent)
*phone number (some characters have them, others don't)
*bank account number
*age or birth date
*passport or driver's license (we don't send pictures of them, but sending garbage files and passport numbers is fine)
*occupation
*mother's and father's name.
I keep all of this information (and I only recently made up Jean Boileau-Dupuy's parents' names) in a file named for the character.

No problem that your new character has no personality - you can start developing that as you interact with the scammers. Feel free to try various personalities, jobs, age, nationality etc -- different things work for different baiters. And if something doesn't work out, you can just quit that scammer and try a new one.

For long term baiting my personal preference is to use characters who are practically penniless and desperate for the money. This way, when the lad asks them to pay something, it's a complicated task of trying to beg, borrow or steal from someone else. This allows you to introduce a lot of delays while still making it look like you are cooperating.
(It also helps remind me that the scammers will steal from anyone no matter how poor).
