For those baiters who are IP concious there are very good tools to hide your IP, and maybe one of the best is the TOR browser.

TOR, meaning The Onion Router, is an internet browser that has anonimity as its primal concern, and it works quite well, I am not a computer genious so I can't explain a lot, but what I know is that each time you connect through the TOR network, it will show a completely different IP, and you can check it by accessing google's main page, and seeing it shows different countries each time.

I thought TOR would display another TOR user's IP. I might be wrong...

Simple solution: do not fill out forms online.

TOR is horrendously slow.

It will display the TOR exit node that was used to connect to the target site - they're people who have actually agreed to be an exit node, not just some random person whose going to get the blame for the dodgy files your downloading.

there are any number of ways of avoiding filling out lad forms.

As it goes, just visiting a website can capture your IP address if you are persuaded to visit a unique URL, download a unique file (like a tracking image a la Spypig) or login with pre-shared credentials.

TOR's slowness aside, it offers pretty good security but a VPN is faster and generally better. Choose one that doesn't log your traffic.

Don't the log files also show the "follow through" website/IP?

For instance, if I click a link posted here, don't the log files on the clicked link website show Eater's web address?

I am always careful to right click on a link and choose "Open in new tab" to not show that I found the link on Eater.
