Has anyone seen the hitman scam out there lately? There was a time couple of years back when the hitman was every lad's wild dream, now they appear to be extinct. Confused

Most lads have realised that it's quite useless. Think about it. Most 419 scams, even if they sound too good to be true, they "could" be possible, and someone gullible or uninformed enough will bite. Love lads, no need to talk about it. Fake sellers, ditto. But hitmen, really? My first gut reaction would be to call the police, who would inform me in a matter of seconds that it's a scam.

Few and far between these days I'm afraid. I personally don't think it is the COULD be possible aspect as opposed to the WANT it to be possible.
One of the keys to success in 419 is telling people something they want to believe in. Who wants to believe someone wants to kill them? - the format is doomed from the start.

Like you I miss them terribly. They were the Lowest of the Low yet the Funniest of the Funniest at the same time. I still look longingly for them in my Spam folder just hoping one will Grace me with his Idiotic presence.

There was a hitman floating around a few weeks back. He wanted $50,000 but was happy to settle for $90.00

Hit lads are pretty much the bottom of the food chain. They are fun, though.

I have never gotten an email from a hitlad. Sad

I always thought of them as the four leaf clovers of scammers' weed patch. I have baited a few through mass baits but they were so pathetically inept that they weren't worthwhile.

Come to think of it, maybe hit lads are assigned that role by their ogas who see no future for them in baiting and hope to run them off, the scammer's version of being put in right field.

I was told, I forget by who, that the hitlad scripts were handed around to lads who were so new or hopeless that there wasn't any expectation they'd bring in much.

ETA-there was a massbait a few months back when a baiter got his lad to circulate a hitlad script with a trained eagle. Hilarious!

Phone hitman scams were all the rage in Mexico about 2 or 3 years ago! with all the organized crime it was quite credible indeed!

I got the call twice, and my dad got the call once (about hitting his son AKA me).

A lot of people fell for it, but now it has died off.

The average lad at least has a reason to pretend he's the good guy when portraying a banker or a widow, but the hit lad tries to be an evil assassin, yet after couple of weeks of straight baiting the whole "I'm gonna snipe you"-attitude has turned into pleading for the ever shrinking payment and numerous missed dead lines.

It was actually a hit lad who first got me into baiting in the first place, when I found one of their opening mails in my spam box. At that point I had already figured out the usual advance fee-thing, but didn't know what was the point in informing me I'd be assassinated.

There was one going around a week or so back. But he was so retarded when you wrote him, he would have forgotten he was a hitman most of the time, and revert over to a benefit fund-scam or something like that.

I ended up giving up on him. I had no idea on how to respond to someone seemingly randomly changing between scripts.

I had a hitlad turn lovelad some years back. Amused me to no end. Laughing

But no, hitlads seem pretty rare these days.
