I got rid of my land line some time back and now have it set to a service called parkmyphone. This allows me to get voice mails sent to my email while retaining my old phone number. Seems all I get nowadays is scam calls or political calls. Most of the scam calls are people pretending to call from IRS or DEA and saying I need to send them money to clear my name or it will have a warrant issued for my arrest.

I got so annoyed with these voice mails that I've started putting fake ads on Craig's list of boats or cars at a really great price, with pics I find on the internet, and leaving their number and name they left on the voice mail in the text of the ad. Within days their numbers are shut down and most of these numbers have appeared to be used for months are years for scams if you google them.

Hopefully, I'm costing them money to change their number. Only other tip I would give is to make sure you use a throw away email account to post the ads.

Feels good everyone I take down and instead of being annoying it now seems more like a sport.

You're involving innocent third parties in your puerile revenge by getting them to ring up for items that don't exist. Makes you as much of a dick as the scammers in my book.

That defeats our purpose. How many innocent third parties have wasted their time answering your ad?

Good point and that bothered me a bit but the numbers are probably taken down quick. What about all of the people the continue to harass, or more importantly actually get money from? Everyone victimized by the scam is a third party and a few minutes of on person's time (finding out the number is disconnected) isn't as bad as someone actually sending hundreds of a dollars to these people. Should I just leave the scammers alone to actually steal from people? Open to suggestions.

Thanks for the education. Moderators can delete this thread but I would be grateful if someone could point me towards some suggestions to actually get at these people without involving others. Thanks.
