I can only speculate about the amount of money involved, but a person in his position in the austrian public tv channels usually ears more than 10000€/month (in retirement), and yet he sold his house and picked up loans, so it could be more than 1 million € in total (maybe even more).

the latest news is, that he might have committed suicide.

The utter disregard for humanity these lads have simply boggles the mond. To them, their victims are not real people. They are food, pleasure, drugs or whatever else they hope to spend thier filthy gains on.

Oh what a joy it would be to do a Shorty or Turd boi on the scammers that devistated this manand his ebtire family.

^^^If he'd traveled to Nigeria, there would be a "paper trail" - airline tickets in his name, his passport would have been recorded as leaving Austria, or another European country, so unless he ended up in another EU country, there would be evidence.

Without knowing the journalist, I hope he worked both investigative and combat journalism and just went off the grid. I hope he becomes that dark figure in the shadows and the grey man in the crowd that no one suspects while chasing down what he needs to run down.

Basically I hope he is alive and kicking in some teeth. I know why we do what we do. Hopefully he figured that out and became another lad nightmare in the making.

he was already in retirement, and he was well known in austria (moderator of austrias most important tv-news and then head of the local ORF-center in carinthia.

and the fact, that he sold his house, and that he even filed bancrupcy in the end, I'm afraid he was a victim, and it wasn't investigative journalism. Sad

I think that people become victims of scams like this simply because they haven't been exposed to small scams and corruption as they were growing up. They still have a rosy view of the world.

Maybe it's a bit like being exposed to bacteria and viruses when you're a kid. You develop immunities.
