Good Day. First I would like to thank my former mentor Oscarpiles, and appologize for dropping out due to RL. The following is a lightly scrubbed account of an hilarious exchange I had with a persistent young lad this morning on a penpals website known as Interp@ls. I feel this lad is very ripe for the picking and invite all to join in.

It is hard if not impossible to evaluate a lads safari potential after knowing him for such short period of time. What I can tell you though is that he is likely to smell a rat earlier after you told him that you know about 419. He is a fun persistent lad though.

You could be right, I still haven't recieved anything from him in my baiting account. I just found it hilarious that he kept trying so hard after my immediate abuse and admonishments. If he comes through I think he'll be a jem. Also anyone here is more than welcome to hook this lad from their own baiting accounts. This guy will be none the wiser. I may do that from one he doesn't know about.

419, scam, scammer, fraud, are not part of my vocabulary when I am talking with lads, unless I am trying to convince them that we need to do something so that we can ensure that a deal is secure (bank transfers only, switching to Yahoo address for "security reasons", etc.) and other requirements so the we can avoid fraudstars.

I agree, and normally not part of mine either. I was not trying to bait this lad, rather dismiss him. I was on the particular site in question as my RL self, but anonymous of course, and talking to friends in other parts of the world in other conversations. This guy kept butting in despite my admonishments and warnings, so he looks like a keeper. For one of my other personae that is.

Naw. I merely got re-contracted with The Company to do some wet work in the Middle East...er...wait a minute...that's my character Freddy. The lads seem to really miss him, they even managed to keep K7 active all summer. Freddy is still waiting to see if David T@gr0 emails him. Probably won't, but that's where Solom0n Gr0man (whom David has never heard of) will step in a few days from now.

As for ammo, I generally prefer buckshot and frangible bullets. Rocksalt can be a real laugh too, before going for the coup de gras. Little if any material for the forensic ballistics people.

Good Day, eh? First I would like to thank my former and currently unofficial mentor Oscarpiles. In my initial exchange with this lad I saw a behavior pattern very familiar to me after dealing with approximately 5000 college and university students over a span of some 20 years. I believe this lad is very manipulable. This lad still has not replied to my first alter ego Freddy, and in fact I hope he doesn't.

However, my other alter ego, Solom0n, unknown to this yet until just now, sent a cold message to this lad's email this morning and got a reply this evening. As I am not yet up on all the argot around here, would someone kindly tell me what type of scam this is? And of course, all your suggestions and input is greatly appreciated.

Below is the continuation of his script:

This is a "poor rich orphan" script a.k.a. "Help me get my inheritence."

The lad poses as the underage (yet usually by western standards, legally adult) orphaned child of a wealthy single parent who foolishly left millions of dollars for his child in some manner that inexplicably requires the help of a total stranger from another country--because rich people are idiots, apparently.

Sometimes it is because of some stupid requirement of the will. This one says he can't get it for many years--again because rich parents are stupid and do not know how to provide for their children. More commonly, the poor rich kid claims to be a refugee living in a camp outside of his or her country and needs your help to get the cash. Sometimes there will be other evil relatives trying to prevent the payoff. Many lads will try to add a romance scam angle, with the poor rich kid falling in love with you within the first or second email exchange.

Because these lads want you to think they are utterly helpless, they try to play it "stupid," to make you think you can rip them off or that they are particularly vulnerable. The results in a straight bait can make some amusing exchanges.

The scam ends up with victims sending money for bribes, fees and whatever else to get the ball rolling.

Sorry I didn't get back to you on Friday but I had to to put the 'Fun' in Funeral and then come to the The Great (Soon to be White) North to do some work. I'm currently on the Dock in Glorious Sunshine although the Temperature is Hovering around 1 C or 32 F.
