When I'm bored I try all kinds of crazy things in first emails just to see if I can hook the lad. Most fail, which I expect. I did try quoting Sherlock lines once and hooked the lad for about a month before he stopped replying. I don't know if it was because of the Sherlock schtick or because he quite anxious to get his fees and very impatient with my character's inability to send them.
