A (I swear it is true) review of a British tv show on netflix:

That comment is priceless.
Mind you I've always found a Yorkshire accent particularly difficult to figure out. Sadly they don't really have a clue what the Heck I'm saying either and I speak proper English like a Good Canuck By Jarge! |

I haven't watched Happy Valley is it anything like Law & Order? I couldn't tell from the reviews.
I mostly watch documentaries, nature in particular, love, love, love Big Cat Diary. I watch it all the time on Netflix. I have watched the series 3-4 times now. Whenever I get a little down and blue, I pull that up and I am happy as can be. Jonathan Scott has such a sexy accent.

You should listen to a Glaswegian 'brogue'. I worked in Saudi Arabia for a few years alongside a Glaswegian engineer. He reckoned that nobody could understand him and most of my time was taken up translating for him into English. |

On 29th July 1981, my wife and I were visiting her parents in Somerset (Western England). Whilst waiting in a queue in a local bank I overheard this scrap of conversation between a woman customer and the teller, who had just asked her a question:
(Customer) "oh yes please, and do you have any cranes?"
(Teller) "no I'm sorry, we've run out of cranes, but we are expecting some in early next week. How many do you want?"
"Six - one for each grandchild."
"That'll be fine, Mrs xxxx I'll put your name down on the cranes list right now"
I spent several minutes wondering what on Earth the Bank was doing, selling cranes before I remembered that it was Prince Charles' and Lady Diana Spencer's wedding day and the woman was ordering commemorative CROWNS!!
