I have this rather bad habit of, er, forgetting about lads once we get to the payment stage.

You know how it is... a new-ish lad sends you an email with the WU details, you think "ah, better get around to generating a receipt for that soon", then work calls you in unexpectedly or the MOAG is down or your house burns down, and soon enough you've completely forgotten that a Mr. Charles Soludo is still sitting in Lagos and waiting for his money.

One such lad is V. Douglas, who I baited with my Katie character some time back. I can barely remember any details of the bait, but apparently I accused him of being a scammer and haggled the processing fee down to $39.

of ignorance, i will send you all the documents as soon as bank
payment processing fee is paid, you have to trust me, you will get
your fund, find a way to get this $39 you will not loose it, instead
it will bring your financial breakthrough,

Find the money and send it to our bursary.

The reason why am sending you this because i want you to receive your
$1.5m usd immediately because we are trying to round up for this
payment program.

Here is the payment information through western union; finally my
advice to you is not to abandon this transaction because of the
requirement of ($39)

I want you to send the bank process fee of $39 usd via western union.

I, too, find it funny when a lad claims he wouldn't scam me for such a small amount. Then tells me that he can prove it by me sending him the money.

I'm like WTF? I ask him, "So, I send money to you (a total stranger) and that proves you're not scamming me"?

I think he's absolutely correct. He's not going to scam you for $39 no matter how much he tries.

Here's a nice one from a Lad I told My Darling and I could find another lawyer if he couldn't accept Bank to Bank transfers:
