My first safari: THE EXODUS OF MOSES

Since I was lucky enough to have this bait progress the way it did, I wanted to give it a proper update for any new readers, since the first few pages may be confusing. The first 2 pages are of the lads mini safari from Lagos to Lokoja. Some interesting email exchanges, in which the lad was actually at a hotel in Lokoja. From the emails from page 2 on, TM and Dr Mike introduce our guest to SH Abuja (the first lad ever to safari there!)! His safari from Lagos to Abuja has been confirmed, and he was lost and stranded in a small city outside of Abuja for about 10 days, after his misadventures trying to find SH. He has just returned to Lagos and is gearing up for his trip to Ghana.

Here is a list of a few of the characters involved in the bait:

1.) Moses - Our protagonist who has journeyed from Lagos to Lokoja, Lajos to Abuja, and now setting up his travels to Ghana.

2.) Gus Fring - The crooked Money Gram district manager. He is Moses' main ally in all of his safaris. He is the one who controls all of the 0rphan Reference Numbers/0rphan Transfers.

3.) Eton Twats - A former pastor, who was originally contacted my Moses with the offer of a loan, so he could repair a burnt down homeless shelter. Mr. Twats originally went to Money Gram to send Moses the transfer fee, but Mr. Fring, knowing this was a 419 scam, denied the transfer, and instead contacted Moses with the idea of the 0rphan RNs. Since Moses and Mr. Fring were now allies, Moses sent Mr. Twats back to see Mr. Fring to complete the transfer (after Moses had already been to Lokoja and Abuja). Tragically, Mr. Twats perished in a car accident on his way to send Moses the transfer fees.

4.) Saul Goodman - A minor character, but he has kept Moses busy with well over 6 hours of answering questions with MTCN S-e-c-u-r-e. Mr. Goodman basically just wastes as much of Moses' time as possible, and has received a piggy out of him. His main purpose is going to be to keep trying to shut down his bank accounts.

There are also of course TM's and Dr Mike's amazing characters, whom provided incredible entertainment...

I am very excited this morning. I believe I have my first safari, but I am wondering if some of the experts can help me confirm.

My lad was originally stationed in Lagos. Started with some loan scam, I turned into a crocked MG agent who refused my original charatcers payment to him, then introduced Brun's awesome WIMP modality/Orphan MTCNs.

So the lad claimed he was in Lagos on vacation and had to travel home to Benin City before he could start his journey. I told him I had Orphan MTCNs only payable in Lokoja, roughly 230km to the north from Benin, not counting his original travel from Lokoja to Benin. We went back and forth as he said he needed a few days to get money together to travel. His original IP did resolve to Lagos, then when he claimed he was in Benin, it was somewhere close to Benin, but not actually Benin.

Anyway, the time frames he claimed as far as traveling do match up, according to my estimation. He said he would be arriving last night, and wanted to pick up the funds this morning. I told him I needed confirmation that he is in fact there, whether a picture at a monument, transport receipt, hotel bill, etc.

He sent me this, this morning:

I did some research and the hotel does exist, but I can not match up the phone number. I located on facebook a page for the hotel, which has a picture of a distinct front desk area, possibly for the pool. It has a few clocks behind the desk, and a glass pane in front, and a distinct black counter top. I told him the funds will be activated immediately upon when he sends me a picture of that area of the hotel. I informed him that as manager of our Security Hub, I have stayed there before, so I am familiar with the hotel.

I am wondering if anyone can take a good look at the hotel receipt and tell me if anything fishy is going on. In my amateur opinion, I believe it is genuine.

My intent is to keep pushing him further north, saying that once I activated the funds, I received an error message on our servers that the funds can only be picked up in XXXX city, 200km north.

Any advice and criticism is very much welcome. Thanks to everyone who helped me, and my mentor Tururut!

I can't check it from here, but I don't think anyone will be able to open that image as the link goes to your Yahoo mail, so only you will be able to see it. You need to upload it to Uploadeter or Photobucket.

He could have a friend in the area, who could take random pictures of landmarks - so the only real way to prove definitively if someone travels are a photo before they go, so you know what they look like and then a photo of them infront of a landmark at the destination.

Sorry, I do believe that is a forged receipt.
Check out time in hotels in Benin is noon.
That phone number on the receipt is your lads.

The header on a good receipt would include the actual phone number of the hotel and the street address.

Thank you Ginger, after more careful examination, I believe you are correct.

I just realized he listed the phone number that he already gave me Embarassed

I guess I was so excited thinking I got this lad to safari that I abandoned some common sense. This really pisses me off....

Any advice on how to play this from here? I already told him I need him to snap a picture of the help desk area, so that may keep him, or whoever is there busy for a moment or two. Should I demand a better receipt?

Any comments on how to proceed are very much appreciated!

or even more absurd, "IBB - WAY BEHIND GLO OFFICE"

Either way, it is ridiculous. Also, I see the manager's signature with the date is his same exact handwriting...as the handwriting on the receipt is consistent throughout the receipt.

I honestly feel like a fool right now for not examining the receipt more carefully before posting. Sorry for wasting your guys time. I guess this is how actual victims can be fooled. Mad

Since there is a change in IP address, I would ask for his number in Benin.
I like to do a voice recognition on my lads.
Have you spoken to him?
Do you think you could recognize his voice?

ETA: I wouldn't rule out the possibility that he travelled just yet.
Lads lie, even when on safari.

Unfortunately I did not speak to him before he left. However, even if I did, wouldn't it just be his cell phone anyway? I suppose that's why it makes sense why you guys like to have the lads call you from landlines.

Any thoughts on what his angle is here? Is he outsourcing the job to someone? If he didn't really travel, or doesn't have someone there, how could he expect to pick up the funds? this is for Money Gram so the Reference numbers can't be checked online, and I made it clear to him that they will not be able to be picked up until I activate them.

Should I press him on the receipt, telling him I know it is a forgery?

That could be a real address. Many African countries (and other countries) don't have the formal addresses you see in more developed countries and reference landmarks.

In case I don't get to touch base with mankind:

That hotel may have very well issued that receipt.
I assumed this was a hotel in Benin (it is Nigeria) since I completely misunderstood the first post.
I offered to call the hotel to verify his stay.

I also wonder if the lad could be talked into returning to the hotel at a specified time to receive a call (from the hotel phone) just for verbal confirmation.

A later call to his mobile phone would produce a voice recognition.

Damn lads.
While the receipt may be genuine, the hotel did not have a guest by that name last night or any night.

The lad now has to return to the hotel to receive a call with a security code since an imposterator is on the loose.

Just tell him to arrive at the hotel lobby and to text you when he is there.
I will then call the hotel to verify that he is there (sometimes they'll let the guest speak on their line-I keep it short so as not to abuse the hotel line).

After that we'll do a call to his cell. It is possible he stayed there last night under a different name.

Ask him what he is wearing.

He just sent me 6 pictures from (supposedly) within the hotel!

As you can see, there are 3 pictures with the same people in it. Not saying they are from within the hotel, but he did give me a number to call, saying it is actually the hotel.

I am inclined to think he really is there.

Download the photos and take a look at the properties - if it was sent from the phone straight to email and not edited then it should have the EXIF data which will show when it was taken.

Hello MK, interesting Thread. Great that you are after a Safari! There are ways and means of achieving/proving these, and this varies with the Bait.

I am currently working with a small group of Baiters who are trying to achieve Safaris. One has already succeeded. It does take time, commitment, and dedication. Sometimes, Lads move readily. Most do not.
