Good afternoon everyone,
I was just surfing on some forums and I saw one frenquently question.
Because, when scammers don't get anything from their victim, some people said that they couldn't be involved for what they did.
BUT, I found this :
| Quote: |
Article 313-1
(...) |
It's in French but it says that Scammers risk 375000€ of penalty even if they didn't get anything ! + five years in jail !
Oh well, Scambaiting has never been so intersting
Have a nice time Scambaiters

that's a law in france, and it could backfire to french scambaiters, who use fake mail-addresses and fake names.
on the other hand, lads are usually not located in france. there is a slim chance, that this law (or similar laws) exists in former french colonies, which mostly got independend in 1960 (mainly senegal, benin, togo, chad, cote ivoire and camerun).
but I'm afraid, that local law enforcement has other problems than hunting a scammer who uses a fake name. |

I must agree with you Robert but fact is that if one of your friend is being scamming, you can also apply this law
As I'm French, I already applied it to a scammer that was scamming a friend of mine so we went to the police. But ... Nothing will be done I think !
At least, I know that there's a kind of law that could help fighting scammers even if you're right, it could backfire me ... |

Most LEO don't care about baiters.
I was referred here years and years ago by a US Secret Service Agent. |

And I suspect there are definitely a couple of lads that I've tried to get to Zürich who are hopping over the border from France as they always seem to end up in Geneva or Basel and won't go any further. |

What about registrars? I've been reporting some fake sites registered with Netim, who does nothing, citing French law (but no specific citation).
Et d'ailleurs, sachant que vous êtes français, bienvenu! |

While I'm sure everyone appreciates your enthusiasm, I would for now advice you to take it slowly. You have just arrived and despite of baiting alone before it always takes time to settle in any community. Ours is not any different in that regard. Take it easy, study and learn. That's how we all start in here. It isn't a race but a marathon. |

Welcome Macs, glad to see you hare from ScamWarners.
Taking it slow is good advice as there is a learning curve. You will catch on quickly and be an asset to baiting. We do have baiters from around the globe. |
