Hello all,

I'm currently looking for an appartement in Germany via a website there called wg-gesucht.de. It's a good website that managed to help me find all my housing here for the last 2 years. Today, however, I ran into a scammer.

Someone posted an 'almost-to-good-to-be-true' apartment, and I contacted them via the website. I then received an e-mail from someone calling themselves Alysa Gregory ([email protected]) who told me they had bought the apartment for their daughter, but their daughter had moved, so now the apartment was freely available. Then she went on to say that, since the previous arrangement hadn't worked out, they are now using AirBnB as a 'go-between', and I should contact AirBnB ([email protected]) with the following offer number: 2D4KOB8D

After contacting their fake air-bnb e-mail (I'd realized it was a scam by then) they told me they wanted me to send a deposit, after which they would arrange a room-viewing and a contract. Obviously a scam.

Currently I'm trying to get them to provide me details to which account I should be sending my money too, but they've grown quiet.

I am no experienced scam-baiter, but I'm quite sure if anyone here feels up to the challenge, they could use the two aforementioned e-mail addresses and the offer-number to setup their own little bait.

As he has your real life details, you should definitely drop him. <strike>It would also be a good idea to delete the code as he may be able to tie that back to you if others start baiting him</strike>.

ETA - looks like the code is generic as someone else posted on AirB&B's FB page last year with the same code.

Please post the email in Scamwarners and, if you think we can bait him, in Surplus. Post it with complete headers.

I'm really new here. I checked out scamwarners, but where exactly do you recommend I post the e-mails?

Additionally, you mention: "If you think we can bait him".. What should I base this decision on?

Can someone who has a baiting character, a fake (nonexistent) address, and maybe a bait phone get to the stage of pretending to pay the deposit?

Also, just noticed. I made a mistake in my first e-mail. The first e-mail address was *not* gmail, but hotmail instead. I will edit that post right now, however, I post this correction here as well, so noone gets confused.
