So it’s sure to have been asked many times, but nothing came up when I searched.
The only estimate I’ve heard on the baiters vs lads ratio was from Shiver on an interview a few years back, I can’t remember what his guess was and I can’t find the interview again now.
So, notwithstanding how obviously impossible it is to take anything other than a very loose educated guess:
What’s the ratio of baiters to scammers?
How many lads know that baiters exist?
What are the chances of accidentally baiting the same lad twice?
Which lad holds the current record for saying "listen to me" the most times in one conversation and what was his final count?
Any other wild guesses at any kind of baiting stats are welcome |

Guessing is not my thing, but as an educated guess I would say that the number of lads in the world is huge, but the amount of active lads is is smaller than could be expected. I reckon being a scammer is in this regard like being a baiter: many try it for a while but only a handful sticks around for more than a few years.
The amount of active lads may be somewhat constant due to this. I reckon not many lads have the energy and resources to truly become "professional" scammers and evolve by doing and learning from their mistakes. The ones who stay for a longer period of time are the ones who manage to scam someone and have therefore more resources to spend on scamming in the first place. Or the ones who are simply lacking brain cells to give up when it's obviously not their thing.
I see increasingly many lads going for payment phase sooner and sooner. The Benin boys are especially prominent in sending the initial "we will release the funds to you when you pay this activation fee of $100" scripts. The infamous impatience of the lads seems to have grown and it seems more like a number game where they just try their luck and see if someone from the thousands of email addresses they spam is going to send them the relatively small amount of money they request. The ones who groom you carefully are still there, but the abrupt "ok send money plzkthxbye" seems to be the more common approach now.
Increasingly many lads probably know that "jokers" exist (like they always more or less have) and find their way to either here or to SW and similar sites, but I still don't think many of them get the concept of what we do. On the one hand we have dropped burning the lads like was done more often in the past, but on the other hand we have stepped up and taken more active and public role in working with the victims. Lads can't have missed this. |

A few years back one of our members, TheDane, baited the same lad twice and at first did not know as it were two different scripts. It was all by accident and it was he who contacted the lad in both cases. Only when he recognized the number did it dawn on him that it was the same lad. It was all hilarious and the lad ended getting horrendously baited twice. |
