Hi all,
Looking for some suggestions please. I run an e-commerce website selling gold jewellery that is currently being targeted by a scammer from Ghana. He is attempting to order goods via stolen credit cards for delivery to two particular address: one in London, one in Kent. I am assuming he has friends at these addresses taking collection.
I've done all the stuff I am supposed to do - refunded the cards, reported to the police and to the action fraud folks.
Is there any way to get away with posting a heavy parcel via Royal Mail (or a UK service) and doing it in such a way that the recipient has to pay the charges at the other end? Are there any other suggestions on how to deal with scammers of this nature?
Terribly unprofessional I know but.....

I have no doubt that Capone's PM is sound advice, but adding this just in case: don't do anything wild. What you have done now, as in dealing with the authorities, is all well and good but do not try baiting scammers who have your real life information. Especially when there is a possibility of them having buddies living nearby. |

Oh Christ Duckling, now you've scared me.
Thanks to an online planning application, I just found the private landlord's details for one of the addresses AND rang them leaving a voicemail to call me back. I was only going to politely explain that there may be some goings on in one of their properties (i'm not convinced the Police will do anything).
Capone - thanks for the PM. Can't for the life of me work out where to retrieve it though |

I'm not trying to scare you. I'm being a realist. And the realism in this case is that we deal with violent criminals here. They may come across as clueless idiots but are still violent criminals. Not all of them are stupid and even if they were, it doesn't take intelligence to slit someone's throat if one is inclined to do so.
From what I can gather from the first post, you are safe. Keep it that way. If you want to play with fire, you are going to need gloves. As in, if you want to bait scammers, stick with us and we will teach you how to do it safely. But in this particular case don't endanger yourself. There are plenty of scammers in the world. You don't need to have fun specifically with the one who might try coming after you. Just drop them. |

OK fair points - I will pass the landlord's details on to the Police and not speak to them myself.
Also found Capone's PM. |

Sound advice from Duckling. Scammers are used to prospective victims catching on snd dropping them, it happens a lot. So if you just break off contact they will go away without any issue. They've nothing to gain by being a nuisance after you have sussed them out. Welcome to Eater! Please wash your hands after handling the lads. |
