Just got a call and successfully led them to this site and asked them what it all meant....LOL...He had to get a supervisor to explain it to him and then he blew up and started cussing and insulting me....ROFL....Thanks 419 Eaters |

I got a call from one of these idiots at work the other day. I played along with him for a while (lots of over-the top "ooooohhh nooooo"s and "that sounds serious, but what can I do?"s,) but was ill-prepared. I'm the IT guy for the company I work for, so I knew immediately what the call was about when the receptionist transferred the call to me, but in retrospect, wish I had a quasi-script laid out.
Plan is to create a virtual machine for them to remote into tonight or tomorrow and see how much of their time I can waste when I call in. Anyone have a number that I can reach them at? I'm fully aware of how to spoof my number and all, just want to have some fun at their expense. |

I may stand to be corrected and I know you meant well but I believe the general rule is never make scammers aware of this site, as it only serves to educate them. Just a thought  |

The thing to do is to stall them for time. Make small talk ask questions. Take breaks. Frustrate and annoy them. If they start cursing at you. Curse back and hang up the phone. You got them mad and you wasted their time from victimizing someone else... |

I had one of these calls at home today - we don't get many of them in UK 
Was a guy called 'Adam', not from MS but a company called Azure (the development name for a previous version of Windows). He told me my Windows computer had a virus, etc so I asked 'which one?' He said 'your Windows computer' so I asked 'which one?' again. This went on for a bit until I eventually revealed to the thick muppet that I have about 16 Windows computers! (2 networks and various laptops/desktops)
He then asked if I wanted to go through them one at a time and admittedly I declined because I really didn't have time but I'm hoping to be able to say yes next time, starting with the ones on a network that's not connected to the internet - maybe one of my Proliant servers that takes an age to boot and is as noisy as hell  Would like to see them remote into those! |

My mother gets calls like this all the time, I usually mess with them for a good while on the phone. When I finally call them out on it, they start cussing me out and then they hang up when they hear me laughing... |

Whoa! Easy there! If you are going to mess with them for a while, great. Have at it. Keep them on the line as long as you 1) can, or 2) until you get tired of the game or have to go, uh, er, do something. But DON'T do what about half of the dudes on YouTube do: i.e. tell them that you have just been playing with them, ha, ha. DO give them every reason to keep your name on their list so they (or whoever they sell their list to) will think you are an easy mark.
