I don't know if you are aware of that: cybercafes usually charge their customers for using the scanner. 100N seems to be common. per page.

and while scanning is a tedious work, he had to pay a lot of money. and don't expect that he has a scanner available that is capable of scanning the whole bunch of papers at once.

so, long and boring work at scanning the pages, and yet it quite expensive. 374 pages at 100N per page, 37400 Naira is 231 US$. Twisted Evil

EDIT:

sadly, the OCR-system did not recognize the scans. he has to rescan it in a higher resolution. higher resolution = longer scan, larger files, and so...

this could also give you the proper reason for mailing the whole stack of paper to you. apparently his scanner isn't capable of delivering the needed resolution. EDIT2: I just calculated, that he used 140 dpi, you need at least 600, since it is the calibration run. Wink

Well I just got an account from him and reported it Very Happy

. It being closed for fraud will come in handy later. Unfortunately the person he hired scanned it at a binary oscillation ratio of 22 bits instead of 46 bits so he has to either get it scanned again or send it to us.

Well after very little persuasion he seems to have agreed to send the manuscript to me for a 60% pay rise. Looks like my robes of salvation will soon not be the only thing from Nigeria on my desk.

I agree with RH der 1. - I tried a bunch of different google searches that I thought would represent typical searches of this subject matter (most importantly not using quotation marks, instead choosing a few different ways to express the mode of writing it out by hand), and if this bait's thread does appear it is not at all prominent, no higher than the second page of the returned results I found. So while it is possible your bait may be spoiled by googling it doesn't seem all that likely ---- especially so if your themed bait is switching into a different mode now anyway.

I'm impressed that you got him to finish the book. I have a lad who is halfway through copying out the Book of Genesis (a task which was inspired by this bait), and he keeps complaining that he is broke and can't scan the pages.

Well I have decided not to have the manuscript sent to me due to doubts about the security of the address I am using pointed out by Monsignor. His payment has been made and is currently pending. Too bad the account is going to be closed for fraud and we are about to get our assets frozen.

Well as I am going to be on a school trip for 5 days with uncertain internet access from tomorrow my character has been selected for an experimental treatment that could let him hear for the first time. Too bad he has to fly to Seattle and be in hospital for at least 5 days. What could possibly go wrong...

Well following a delay the manager has returned from getting his experimental implants put in restoring his hearing to 50%. Also his account seems to have been shut down by now as he now wants me to use wire transfer. First however he needs to give me suggestions for good things to listen to with my new implants.
