Sometimes while reading the long-running baits, I find myself wondering if we - the baiter community - have ever driven a lad completely 'round the bend. To the point of being committed to a psychiatric institution, or something of that nature? Not that it would bother me if we had, mind you. Many victims of these scumbags tricks have committed suicide out of despair after losing everything to a scam and realizing they have no way to get it back. The lads deserve whatever fate befalls them at the hands of a dedicated baiter (or a whole group of 'em). I'm just curious if anyone knows what the long-term results of torturing a lad for years in a totally psychotic mass-bait are (Shorty, for instance...) Laughing

I am absolutely no expert but I am going to guess that lads who deal in the makebelieve world of scamming, spinning lies and fantasies for victims are most likely to fall for it in reverse.

These are hard, thoughtless, greedy individuals and I would have thought that if a 'client' was proving too difficult, they'd just drop him rather than get all upset and stressed.

Not true. Baiting a Scammer over and over can make them paranoid enough to drop real victims.

Some baited lads have definitely had their grip on reality altered, even if they haven't been committed. This is one way in which de-education is very effective.

Lads have definitely complained to me of having stress and depression from not getting paid. And that's just me, I'm sure other baiters have heard similar. They could be lying, but I think our psychological warfare tactics really do have an effect on their confidence and therefore their income.

^^^^ Not to mention that if you keep killing their sites then they propably overcompensate by building more sites as they don't seem to last very long. This is unlikely to bring the lad any more money than going with just one site but the overheads go up anyway even if the sites stay up!

I talked to the source. General Don didn't wind up in the hospital. (That's a shame) There was a different lad that had a friend who claimed he was in the hospital though. (Yippee!) Anyway, if you ever get a lad screwed up enough to claim they are under duresse it's definately a good thing.

ETA: The source said the General Steady Bait was never published. I'll kill the Mooseknuckle link as there probably isn't anything there.

dai teatime, the lad I sent around to kenia, and who believed in atlantis and the end of the world. after the bait, he was so paranoid about the almighty gomer, that he didn't leave his room anymore. gomer had strange hacking skills, like getting permanently into a mobile phone, and his software even survived a hardware reset.

sadly, it took him just a few weeks to recover and start scamming again. and with the hacking of mailboxes and sending out distress-messages, he was unbaitable.

I wondered too when reading some of the stories if perhaps one of the people have been badly hurt or even killed. Like say they had to borrow from others to do a certain scenario that the scambaiter wanted, with the thought of money returning to repay the others.

Not really the problem of the scambaiter though, these people don't care about others.

@tartan - I was a bit reluctant at first too, so for my first bait I ran a test.

Round 1
I told the lad that I was sending my grandmother's heart medication money, which she would die without, and I desperately needed the loan so we could keep the house and a poor, sick old woman wouldn't be homeless.

They reassured me I would get the loan with no problem.

Round 2
After the first transfer went astray, I was forced to pawn her wheelchair, so she would be bedridden until the funds came through.

Again, the money would come and I shouldn't worry at all.

Round 3
The second transfer got chopped, and by now my character was at her wits' end. She sold her POS car for one final attempt and used all the money they had set aside for food, thereby leaving them without food, shelter, transportation, or life-saving medication.

The lad was happy to accept the transfer and urged me to hurry so my grandmother wouldn't die. Sadly, the final transaction went astray and the lad's email account got canceled (not by me).

If you have reservations, give them a test or three. They won't fail to disappoint, I guarantee it.

One of my lads, Abdul was successfully distroyed as a person. When I started we was quite successful. Now he's ib debt, one of his wives (yeah, the bastard had two) divorced him (see my sig line), his confidence totally shattered after waves and waves of massbaits and stupid formats. He often complaining about sicknesses (the fact that he got malaria helped), stress... Now he has stopped posting on facebook, answering anyone's mails... He's not in the happy home with trees, and flowers, and chirping birds, and basket weavers, but close enough.

That warms my heart and gives me joy.

Now you need to answer one of those calls but have technical difficulty the moment you are about to reveal the MTCN or whatever desperately needed info he's salavating over.
