but you should NEVER reveal to your subject that you KNOW that she/he is scamming you. Act innocent, and always promise to send him/her money.

In my opinion it doesn't matter because the fact that most scammers realise they are not going to get any money and suddenly disappear pretty much says they know that you know it was a scam anyway.

There's a difference between realising it is a scam and just disappearing and telling the scammer that you have been playing them all along.

A real victim will just disappear and the scammer will accept that and move on - the scammer learns nothing from the experience.

Tell him that you've been playing him and the next person (probably a baiter) who gives him a 9 digit MTCN or whatever will immediately jump out to him as someone wasting his time and he will drop them and move on to the next (possibly real) victim. The scammer will gradually learn how to weed out the baiters from the real victims.

Absolutely. We don't want to educate scammers.

De-educating can be fun though.
-Accept their really poor work and find (fake) reasons to find fault with their good fakes.
-reinforce their mistakes in English by making the same mistakes.
-pick some terms and use them wrongly. Do so repeatedly until they begin to follow your lead.
-make up some really inappropriate nicknames (they don't have to be vulgar, they can just be idiotic) and convince them they are terms of endearment. For example, one our former romance baiters used to reinforce to scammers that women like to be called "shrew."
-You can even "figure out" it is a scam. Just make the reason totally bogus and more likely to cause them harm than good (or you can do it in the context of a chop--create a 2nd scammer who has convinced you that the first is really a scammer. This really does happen, especially among romance scammers.)

Mind you, I got one email today saying that I had a FedEx Parcel sent to my address along with a tracking number.

The problem is the idiots CC'd all the rest of the emails that they sent the exact same email to. I think it was just a virus as they supplied a zip file which of course I would never open.

They even sent the same email a second time with the same info but this time Bcc'd in an attempt to rectify their mistake

I just made the simply reply (with no desire to take it further) of:

What address was that exactly? and funny that you happened to send the same message to so many similar email addresses and also with the same tracking number! LOL

You f*****g Amateurs. You couldn't run a real scam if you were given simple instructions! F**k off. You are a f****n embarrassing disgrace!

The "shipment notification" with the zip file attached is virus. It has been circulating for years, and you see more attempts at Christmas, when people are more likely to be expecting packages. It's no different than the fake tax refunds and Christmas cards. They are simply attempts to get thousands of unsuspecting users to open an infected file.

Chances are it was sent to you from an infected computer owned by an innocent person, so replying will not get to the people behind the virus anyway.

I was contacted by of all people my late father's second wife. She was always crazy and not like how all women are crazy (No offence) she was crazy like been in a hospital crazy. Anyway this was before I was on this sight so I kind of blew it. I spoke with my x-stepmother about some facebook compensation fund for fraud, and was directed to Mr Peter Myers Jr. who was running the fund. I friended him and was trying to get a WU address, I also contacted my x-stepmothers account and asked her some personal information and this blew the lead. If I get another bite I may be able to lead somebody out further next time.
