This is essentially the same thing again. There is no "scammers". There are individual lads and different gangs. There is also no annual income. A lad might be a lad for a year without making a penny. Then he might suddenly hit big and get a few thousands, maybe even tens of thousands of dollars from a single victim. And then he might go another year without ever making a penny. These are two reasons for why staring at the statistics simply doesn't work.

Some of the lads (most propably) has to do scamming only on the side as they can't afford the cost of scamming full time. Rest of the time they do whatever jobs they can get.

Another indication of what lads think about baiters is how they (sometimes) respond when they realise they are dealing with a joker: switching language register from the standard scamming language and instead dropping in a bit of pidgin. Most of the time it's straight insults, but other times it's honest curiosity about what the baiter is trying to do ("guy, wetin dey u levels na?").

Both kinds of cases show how baiters are being misidentified as fellow guymen - either deserving insults for trying to interfere another guy's job, or the latter case where the scammer is trying to figure out another scammer's modalities (or looking for partnership). Neither of these would happen if the scammers involved had even a basic understanding of what baiters are doing, much less an organised system for dealing with them.

Additional evidence: we all have the experience, upon the ending of a bait one way or another, of receiving different scam formats in the same email box---- even when a baiting email address has been set up brand new for one bait. Sometimes these come from the same IP address as the original scam (trying another angle), other times they are more variable ..... and eventually start attracting spam as well, presumably by being sold on. Scammers definitely wouldn't be trying again, and passing around or selling leads, if there was some kind of organised anti-baiter initiative.

All that said, I am sure there are *some* specific gangs with specific grudges against specific baiters who have hit their earnings hard (and perhaps punctured a bit of that macho posturing), and for that reason safe baiting is definitely advisable.

I thanking you very much for interesting commenting to this threads. I have being reading it most careful and am good understanding the “switching language register” you speaking of. I am also understanding that diese Mugu not even close to understandings what baiters are doing or really what is all about.

I am sure that specifically gangs having good organize ability but am having now personally recognized, after some baitings, that even very sophisticatedly lads are being essential quite ignorants.

If you write the lads like this, they haven’t got a bloody clue what you’re up to. But they sure do smell the bait. I notice you have baited in German.

I’d love to read them. Perhaps via PM?

At the risk of sounding over confident, if such an organized community and/or database existed, we'd know about it. Lots of people here have managed to pose as scammers, form fake partnerships, and get pretty deep knowledge of the inner workings of scams and scammers. A few others have contacts with law enforcement agencies and have worked cooperatively to help bring about arrests. I think it's reasonable to expect that investigations and examination of evidence would reveal something as elaborate as what you are envisioning.

I think scammers would be skittish about jumping into something like that. It would be difficult to participate without implicating yourself in criminal activity and dropping a trail of breadcrumbs back to your own door. Internet anonymity is only as good as your hosts’ ability to fight a subpoena. It is impractical for law enforcement to track down every misused free email account and fake site, but having so much potential evidence in one spot would probably be tempting.

All that said, I have seen boards where people try to sell stolen credit card numbers, mailing lists, passwords, etc. The ones I saw didn't stay up for very long and were full of messages from people who had been ripped off by the sellers. I guess it's hard to trust thieves. Laughing

Regarding us, yes. As said before, we like to keep it that way and hence don't burn the lads. Assuming ignorance otherwise, on the other hand, is risky. I may hate the lads as much as anyone, but to a certain extent I respect them. The same way I would respect a bear if I was hunting one. If I did not respect them, I would not consider baiting worth my time. I would simply assume that these idiots can't fool anyone and carry on with my life, but as we all know, that is not the case. There are lads who are just too good at what they are doing for my liking.

Fairly new here but this topic has brought up an important point which, honestly, I had not read here but assumed. No one here EVER admits to scamming the lad. We just make excuses, waste time, play dumb etc until they go away. Correct? That would make it difficult to figure out who the scammers are for a database and who was just dumb and confused. Hmmm
