Currently, one of my baiting accounts is receiving literally hundreds (I stopped counting when it passed 1000) "Email Cannot Be Delivered" notifications.
From the message that's been returned, it appears some lad is using my email address in the "From:" part of his opening format.
I tried matching the returned headers with the current baits going on from that account but no matches so I don't know who it is. More likely it's been a currently baited lad who has passed my address on to someone else.

It's annoying to delete all of those messages (after glancing through to see if any genuine replies from my lads are in among them) but it's also nice to know that someone has sent out hundreds of opening formats and a huge number have failed to hit their mark.

EDIT: I'm still getting them! It's now well past 2000.

You could set up a filter that deletes all messages containing the phrase to be deleted automatically Wink

Sounds like some Lad is Joe-jobbing your account. You must have PO'd someone. Have you opened any of the undeliverable E-mails to see the Reply to E-mail address? It might give you a clue who is doing it. That is how I found out who did it to me. I think one day I had 50,000+ as the system tries to deliver the bounced messages several days before giving up.

I feel your pain OF as its happened me. If you can't set up a filter can you have that box forward the messages to a Gmail account? You can then set up the filters to trash the undeliverable. Sort through the headers or the messages and see if you can figure out who the original sender was. Gmail has since killed this option but I had all the messages also forward to my spamming lad's box. The messages stopped and I still use the box. BTW mail bombing is not recommended.

If any of the bounced email system includes the opening script, see if you can match it up with one that you received. If there's a phone number, there are several folks in here who can make him get up in the middle of the night.

No phone number? Once you know who it is, start sending him your lad scams over and over. That gets a great reaction for me!

That happened to one of my catcher accounts a while back. However, I arranged a mass bait and got two bank accounts closed, so it all ended happily.

It happened for me too a few months ago. I only got a few hundred of them. It appears I was lucky.

Regarding this, surely gmail has *some* way to filter this? Even if phrase-filtration is not possible?

EDIT: OF, have you tried going to "settings" - "filters" - "create new filter" and then inserting a key word? You can also then create a search based on the filter which gives you options for matching emails (delete/archive/flag, etc. )

It finally stopped! Well, okay... slowed down; I'm still getting the occasional "Message not delivered" every few hours but definitely the hundreds per hour as before.

Taz: Mr Cheng has gone quiet on me. You did say he's slow in replying but I don't know. It's quite possible I missed one of his replies during my storm of failure messages and deleted a reply from him. I'll prod him again.
