Why do so many lads use caps lock?

THIS MESSAGE IS TO CONFIRM WHY LADS USE CAPS LOCK WHEN SENDING EMAILS.
Jokes aside I could never understand why so many lads use all caps when sending emails. Does anyone know why?

They have keyboards that than type in both western and Arabic letters. So they need to have caps lock on lest they write in Arabic. At least I think I have heard that explanation before.

I think it's because in lad logic, all caps adds a certain gravitas and importance to their half-baked flummery. At least in their minds. Confused

I've read it's to do with the mixture of languages on their keyboards, it's easier for them to type in caps.

I've heard quite a few legends regarding why this is but I think it is one of those things nobody knows for sure.

The best one I have heard is back when 419 scams were mailed out to people they were originally typed out with a machine (I forget its name) that could only type in capital letters. When the hard copy scripts were typed up on a word processor and put onto a floppy disk they were copied exactly as the original script appeared, caps and all.

Another urban legend is that the initial letter will come in caps then when the barrister is introduced he will write in lower case to add credence to the idea you are talking to two different people.

But why would Southern Nigerians have Arabic keyboards? I could see that for Northern Nigerians, since there are lots of Muslims in the area, though Hausa is usually written in the Latin alphabet.

A lot of mine seem to type at me in all caps when either it's "important" information or they are frustrated as hell at my antics.

^^That makes sense. I've had lads from Benin, Spain, South Africa, and other places come at with all caps. Especially when they are really exasperated. Laughing

^^^ I have started to type all my responses to lads in caps lock and requesting that they do the same. I like my lads de-educated.

I tell them I'm color blind and can only see BLUE FONT REAL BIG ALL CAPS. Lazy lads respond "FIND SOMEONE TO READ THIS TO YOU"

I'm not sure about the keyboard explanation. I've spent quite a bt of time in Western Africa for work (mostly Nigeria and Gabon) and do not recall seeing mixed latin/arabic keyboards. From what I could see there wasn't anything written using the arabic alphabet anywhere.

I think the reason is the same as why some realtors write their ads in all caps. You can see some on Craiglist as well. They (mistakenly) think that this will grab your attention when it actually makes you look unprofessional.

I just realized something the lads may do so many emails that it is slightly faster for them to use caps lock because then they don't have to press the shift key so much.

I've got a rich old widow who will gently chide a scammer for losing his/her temper if they type in all caps. This widow insists that they seek professional help for their anger management issues and stubbornly refuses to proceed further until these issues are resolved.

I Haven't seen many emails in all caps recently.. maybe my lads are just a bit more computer literate..

But doesn't stop me from having them address me using all 22 of my names.
do NSA precautions... or help me avoid Snowden and his evil tactics to have me defect. (that works quite well recently..)

^^^ I think we should reverse that trend. Make more lads use caps lock. I think caps lock may help alert some victims that it is a scam.

Good idea. I also have a barely literate manual laborer character who only understands a message if it is written in all-caps.

Hey. If my characters were smart, they wouldn't fall for these scams in the first place.

my Charater is just a greedy pastor that is trying to raise funds to start churches to get more funds. Hey you start out with $100K a year, free laptops, 2 iphones and a brand new car!
