This is one of my first baits that I thought may be post-worthy. So here goes…

Juliet is not the person that is sick. The agreement was that i will send you check and you will take out the one that you want to use and send the balance to who i will direct you to send it to.

Getting a little impatient aren't we? I'm not sure what day of the week it is where you live, but here it's the weekend and I cannot access any financial institutions because everyone is closed.
Now as I was saying earlier, to transfer $2300 by Western Union would incur a $150 fee. A bank to bank transfer would be much cheaper since I can do this from my own bank. If you OK with this kindly let me know where to wire the money.

It sounds like this might actually be a check scam. They probably did mail you a bad check, and now they want their cut before the check bounces. It will probably get returned to them eventually if you gave them a fake address, so you might want to work that into the bait (I'm sending it back because I feel guilty/it smells funny/I like mailing things).

Ideas? You could turn it into a romance bait (after all, you're a widower, she's recently divorced....) You could cash a check from a fake lad instead, then use the money to open a risky-free business they could invest in. You could go visit the little ladette. Ahh, the possibilities are endless.

Get another account from him
Report that one too

He should be fairly upset at the point so you could heighten his anguish by informing him that the funds have been paid into another random account instead at which point you could either introduce another character in the form of the scatter brained unwitting recipient or tell him to rethink the entire plan and tell him to get back to you once he has a better idea, which you could instantly shoot down in flames or string him along with as the next plan slowly begins to unravel at the seems with every twist and turn.

The possibilities are endless but to me having them explode in a fit of rage is always good for a laugh.

Hodor, your baits rock! But in the future, you may want to redact the mules name and certain information on the account. This section isn't behind login and the mule may be a victim rather than a scammer.

Thanks for the advise and ideas. I did report the acct to Alan. I think Verne will have a problem with that acct and try to request another then ultimately deposit to some random acct as Pastor WM suggested.

You might want to obscure some/all of the digits in the IBAN as this contains not only the sort code but the full account number "xxx"'d out in the posting above.

After Verne had no luck with the first acct, Juliet sent another acct which I promptly reported. Hmm, maybe my bank is incompetent or something, because I have a feeling that account won't work either.

Fellow baiters: since I'm fairly new here, I want to be sure I'm posting this in the right place. I'm told this is not behind a login so should this be reserved ONLY for completed baits? Is there a better forum for ongoing baits of this type?

Update

After Verne (me) informed Juliet that both bank accts are 'no good', Mr. Bricks jumps back into the game to investigate and Verne tells both of them the real truth: the check they sent was no good and the bank took back all my money. Both players deny such nonsense and threaten to report me to the FBI.

It might be time to start the WU/MG chapter.
