This pretty much says it all. Scammer comments in red. Baiters comments in green.

Thanks for Your mail...It is OK, and here are my bank data below for
the transfer.....

ACCT NAME........ BANCO LA CAIXA

Thank you. I'm having trouble reading the numbers from the screen, as my eyesight is not very good. Could you please resend the message using a larger font, so the characters are bigger. I don't have much trouble with words, as I can usually work out what is needed from the context of what is being written. But for long strings of numbers where one needs to get them 100% right, I do have a problem.

Larger words now....

ACCT NAME........ BANCO LA CAIXA

Andy, the letters are the same size as before. Can you send an email with larger clearer letters please. I assume you have the ability to set a font size. Can you make the front size about 30 points, then I will see it clearly. I don't know if some of those things are 0,O or 8, whether they are I or 1. It's too small for me to see clearly.

If you can't adjust the font size, can you write it in thick pen on a bit of paper, then scan the paper and copy it to me by email?

well i am using the larger letter in my computer to send You this
email and here is my bank data
ACCT NAME...BANCO LA CAIXA

<snip>

AND YOU CAN ZOON YOUR COMPUTER FOR BETTER VIEW OK,OR YOU CAN CALL YOUR
GRANDSON TO CHECK TO LETTERS OUT OF YOU OK,LET ME KNOW AS SOON AS THE
MONEY IS TRANSFER

Sorry,

the letters are still the same size.

How can I zoom my computer? That is what I need to do.

Sam

Yes,You need to zoom You computer to see it bigger and better that
what You need to do OK..or You can let Your grandson writer out the
letters when him come back OK..because i have use the biggest letter
in my computer..thanks

I don't know how to zoom my computer - if you know how, then if it is simple enough I will try to do it.

I will see my Grandson on Sunday, but it will not be here but at my son-in-laws house. I was hoping to have the details to give to him, but it seems that will not be possible.

I think we should cancel this transaction, as your Paypal accounts are not working and I can't write down the bank details. Sorry, perhaps some other time.

All the best,

Sam

Hi Sam

i dont understand Your last email You want to cancel the transaction
because You can't see the details? How did You want me to send the bank
details for You?i have the larger letter in my computer so how did
want it now?or i should writer it down on a paper and scam it for You?
let me know if You still continuer the transaction and i will get back
to You as soon as possible....thanks

I think it is best we cancel, since each time you send the email the letters are the same size, so I can't see them properly. Whatever you change makes no difference to me. I can't find any way to zoom in, though if you know how to do it and can explain, I will try that.

If you can write it in a very thick pen, and scam that for me, and send via email, then that should be ok.

Otherwise we can cancel.

Sam

OK,i think this will be better i will write it with a thick pen and
scam it to You OK...thanks and i will update You with the scam copy

Of course, some mail clients do support larger letters via HTML markup, but the scammer has no idea how big the letters are on your screen.

Hey, that sounds like a great idea...it could be any number of issues, bad monitor, small monitor, after you've "accidentally" gotten the numbers wrong a few times...

But I really like making them write it out and scan or pic...great time waster!

It has been a while but I made one type to me in all caps because I have bad eyesight. I hope he continued that after I lost him.

I seem to recall a baiter who located a program that would turn typed text upside down. He explained to the mugu that he was in Australia so everything was upside down, and sent all his e-mails to the mugu upside down.

I just happened to save this post in my drafts. I don't know who to credit but the OP was

Quote:
When replying to a lad, sometimes I copy what he wrote and:

1. Run it through this translator: http://www.sevenwires.com/play/UpsideDownLetters.html

2. Take the result from #1 and run it through this translator:
http://friendster-tweakers.com/tools/text-translator/fancy.php

The result is utter gibberish but it looks like language. I then replace what the lad wrote with the result from #2 and respond with a simple comment like, "I can't read that".

For example, here is the previous paragraph given the treatment just described:

I got a reply from him

Hi Sam

I have attached a copy of the my bank details for You to see and it is
in bigger letter and let mw know if You are OK with the
details....thanks

He attached a .docx Word file, but there is something odd about it. When I save it, my Windows box indicates it is a part file, so I can't actually do anything with it. But I forward all emails to Google gmail, and that has the option to "view" the file. The view does have the bank details.

It took him some time, but he generated the information in Word, not with a pen and paper. I just wrote to him " I can see you have attached a file of some sort, but it it not opening in my computer" which is actually pretty much the truth.

I'm thinking of cutting the bait short, saying I realize he is a dishonest person as he used unlicensed software to create the file. I've got the same scammer on about 4 other hooks, so I'm not really losing him. He might think he has lost $7500, but I know differently!

If it suits your bait, aside from the trash file thing, tell him that you cannot turn such information in to your bank in that form. They will not allow image, document or other attached files. You need it written out in the body of the mail. Make him work for you to get your piggy! It is better for the reports anyway.

I don't know whether it is worth persuing the piggy here. I do have two accounts he has sent me, as the first one was "status orange" so he sent another. But I can't prove he is a scammer, in that he never contacted me on a typical scam.

Instead I see his email posted on both radio amateur and photograhic forums as a scammer, so I deceided to drop him an email asking if he had X, Y and Z. So far he is quoting for amateur radio equipment, photographic equipment and a piece of professional test equipment worth well over $100,000.

The most glariing example he is a scammer is the Agilent vector network analyzer he quoted for. There are various "issues" with this.

* One photo clearly shows it has two test ports.
* A photo shows the options installed, and we see it has the option which adds two more test ports.
* He knows nothing about it. When asked whether it was fitted with high quality PL259 plugs (as used on CB and most ham things) or fragile 1.85 mm connectors (as used on vector network analyzers), he tells me it has the high quality PL259 plugs.

He is phoning from Nigeria - I now have him giving his complete number, as his calls are rejected when he withholds his number.

I'm a bit puzzled whether I should persue the accounts as a piggy or not, given the way the bait started.

I could if need be ask on an Agilent vector network analyzer forum, where many Agilent staff hang out, and ask them to confirm the photos are inconsistent.

In my own mind I know he is a scammer. There is no doubt about it. But I could imagine if I sent an email reporting the bank accounts, the person receiving it might not persue the matter, given I approached him, and there is nothing really to prove he is a scammer.
