I adopted another baiter's idea of asking the lad to include a couple of nonsense code words in his replies ("so I will know it was you"). He did OK for the first phrase, but forgot to include the second one. He sent about five messages without the phrase, and I sent him back notes telling him that there was an imposter pretending to be him sending me messages.

Eventually he got on track again, and sent me a message with the real code word in. We're ready to go:

Please use the phrase “felching hamsters” somewhere in your reply, so I know it is not the improsture who is pretending to be you.
