Background: this bait is 149 days old, my longest running ever. Previous record was 141, and I damn near bought a pre-paid cellphone to save this bait. I think now this drama's not done yet.

This has morphed into a "wash-wash" scam, I think in part due to my unwillingness to deal with the first diplomat, who I accused of "looking inside the consignment" and finding out he was carrying money.

Hmmm, he told me yesterday I'd have to pick up the international charge. I said that wouldn't be a problem, but that I needed to know in advance how much to bring. Six weeks ago they were wanting $3250.

I didn't know they had accounting and banking there. Why on earth does he think that North Korea is a credible place to come from - what does his IP resolve to?

All those numbers, he should have studied spelling as well.

Did you note that he hasn't told you which city in Canada yet?

@ Inspector: he still hasn't told me which city in Canada I need to go to! I keep asking, and it's as if the question goes in one ear and out the other. (Well, there's nothing in the way there!)

@ Irish: By all rights this guy should have dropped me three months ago. But, to paraphrase an old song, the bait goes on. It started out as a transfer of money from Japan to my bank account. I started asking questions about how to do that. I offered to look for a bank in Mexico that could accept the money. Then it morphed into a diplomatic consignment to be hand carried by courier. I was not able to meet the diplomat on two previous occasions on the grounds that they did not give me enough notice to get tickets in time, so the diplomat "went home".

Then it went to wash-wash. When I kept harping about how defaced money is no good, they decided not to deface the money. Then I'm supposed to go to London to meet the diplomat. I said that would look suspicious, and what do I tell people? I asked them to come up with a cover story, and now it's back to Canada!

They have not asked me for a passport or driver's license or anything like that. It's been back and forth about this diplomat, and the first diplomat wouldn't email me (someone on their end dropped the ball). I started complaining about the diplomat's lack of common courtesy to respond to emails, and I accused him of rifling thru the consignment. Now they're getting a new diplomat as I write this.

To keep them on the hook, I have told Mr Hw4ng (the first lad) that I regard him as a true friend, and that I want him to stay at my house for three weeks as my guest. I've also offered to scope out real estate investments in Mexico.

I really didn't think this would last as long as it has. Twice I came close to getting a pre-paid cellphone in order to "save" the bait....but the bait keeps saving itself!

I'm now thinking that 180 days is reachable.

I will likely be needed here this week to assist the insurance investigators with the inventory of missing equipment. I hope that the diplomat will be available next week for a meeting.

I will advise you when I am ready to make the flight arrangements.
