I just thought I'd pop in here and say hello. I've been reading your articles and posts and found them very instructive, so thanks for that for a start. Some of the links to handy tools and such promise to be, well, very handy. Very Happy

I'm not entirely new to the idea of baiting, but I've never been very organised about it. Mostly I just run them round in circles by not understanding a blind word they're saying until they get bored.

That's one of the reasons I'm not going to ask for a mentor, at least not at the moment, but I hope no-one'll mind if I turn up here occasionally asking sily questions.. I do mean to use 'search' mostly, though, so hopefully I'll be able to answer the sillier ones before I have to ask em here.

One thing though, that I couldn't find: how many times would you guys say it's possible to use the same addy/ID for conversing with the 'lads'? I'm assuming there're loads of these people and that they don't keep detailed records, so how likely is a lad to click on that a potential mark is using the same addy as a previous one?

EDIT: that probably should've gone in the tips forum, shouldn't it? Sorry.

There are tens of thousands of lads in West Africa alone, worldwide there are hundreds of thousands. It can be a lucrative business. Chances of your email address getting spotted by a lad? None really.

Thanks for the advice, so. I'll keep on using the same couple of addys for the time being (it saves creating a new one every time and no-one's ever queried it yet - just wanted to see what you experts thought).

I'll do the mentor thing when I have a little more time free. At the moment I'd just be taking up time they could be using on someone more productive!

As far as safety goes, it's Googlemail, Anonymizer and Fake Name Generator all the way... Wink

As you can see, we have way too much free time... we just sit here and wait for someone to make a post, so we can pounce before anyone else does. Laughing

While there are probably upwards of a hundred thousand lads, the way you pick them may skew the statistics at bit. On the other hand I've seen people here say that they have immediately re-baited a lad using the same email address and character. Of course it depends on the lad, but it isn't anything to get too worried about.

Even if the lad does twig, you can then say that you are another scammer trying to see if he has a better script or documents than you do.

At the least you should get a nice insult from him, and possibly you could get him trying to work with you.
