Three hundred and seven (plus fifty-eight) days ago, a rogue baiter wandered in off the streets. Filled with venom and bristling with outrage that e-mail scammers were (and sadly still are) so widespread and un-punished, tired of the message boards dominated by self-righteous "1337's", he finally signed up with this motley group of swashbuckling vigilantes. Though his angst was considerable, he allowed it to carry over into his lone attempts at baiting. He came here looking not only for ideas and resources, but also because he was drawn in by the warm atmosphere. Maybe, just maybe, someone here could help him become something more than he currently was.
Slowly, with much gentle guidance and just as much smartass humour, the members of Eater convinced this newbie to transform his blind lust for vengeance into something with more direction. He was permitted to ask any question about any aspect of this noble sport, and even encouraged to share his opinions and experiences. He was welcomed as a member of the most powerful anti-mugu force on the web. More importantly, he was shown that many of his fellow members came here the same way.
As that baiter's power and knowledge grew, he became someone that others could turn to for advice if they needed it. Always aware that he himself was a newbie once, he did his best to make newcomers feel welcome as valuable members of the team. And he never forgot those that helped him along the way. If he could, he would give each of them a big sloppy hug and a heartfelt thank-you for their time and patience.
That individual was... sh!t I don't remember. But as of today's date, I've been here for a year and still haven't been thrown out. Happy Eater-versary to me!  |

Ah, Obi-Wan- I still remember your first post fondly....full of vim and vinegar and seething rage*.....I remember thinking, "Ah. This angsty person is filled with venom and bristling with outrage.....he will become a worthy weapon in our arsenal**!"
Happy one year, sir! It has been a pleasure having you with us and watching you wreak havoc on the lads. 
*not really. His first post was actually a rather tame one about the futility of baiting phishers.

That's very true. Now you see why I wrote the mini-biography about some other baiter instead of myself! If it were MY memoirs, it would go something like this...
After a night of serious drinking and porn-surfing, I woke up in the middle of a place called Eater with some guy with wild hair and huge blinking eyes asking if I had any painkillers. They told me that as long as I kept the stupid questions to a minimum, I could stay until I sobered up enough to crawl home. That day ain't come yet.
But that other guy is much more media friendly, don't you think? |
