Identify this British politician

Here's a picture cropped from one of our family pictures which I found earlier today. I wonder if someone could identify the man in the image? I think it may be the then British Prime Minister Anthony Eden but the angle of the image makes it hard to be certain.

I know the photograph was taken circa 1955-56 so it's possible it was AE.

Thanks PF. I'm pretty sure it's him now, though I'm going by the chin features rather than the teeth Smile

Very similar ears except at the lobe.. but the tooth is a match!

It doesn't look like any other defence secretary or prime minister at the time

FWIW the picture is from 15th August 1952, their wedding day. He was 55, she was 32 - the old dog!

Yes it is Eden. He wasn't Prime Minister for that long. Churchill got pushed and then Eden embarked on the Suez Crisis which finished him off and he was replaced by Harold MacMillan.

Not so interesting fact that you can bore your friends with, Anthony Eden and Adolf Hitler discovered that they were stationed opposite each other in the First World War.

...and they both played left back for their respective sides in the Christmas Day truce soccer match in No Mans Land. Germany won 5-4 on penalties. Very Happy

Sadly Hitler got crocked in the first half after a particularly nasty below the belt challenge by Wilfred 'Chopper' Owen and was hospitalized for two weeks with a badly swollen testiment, thus avoiding the fatal bullet that had his name on it. The rest, as they say, is history.

A certain Bill Shankley stole it some years later in his local pub in Liverpool, after he overheard Hitler recounting the tale, who was having a few bevvies with his half-brother Alois

Hmm, interesting cap badge worn on the soldiers he's inspecting - SAS ?
If it was taken in 1955(ish) I guess it was taken in Malaya.
