The fact that we can consider the morality of what we do is where we differ from the scammers we bait. I don't reproach those who have a more head on approach, they have a different view, maybe different experiences, and maybe time will make me become more hardened, though I would not describe myself as soft, by any means.

It is right that we question what we do and how we do it, if for no other reason than to preserve the public perception of scam baiting as a virtuous art. I know that the general view of the public is favourable to scam baiters in my own experience, but there must always be care in what we do so as to preserve that support.

If you're here, you are a baiter or a supporter, and you can only bait at the level and intensity you find comfortable. I suspect that experience will harden me, and make me more effective and demanding, but I will always seek to retain certain personal limits so that I can maintain a sense of moral righteousness - sounds pompous and arrogant but pfffft.

I have one guy corresponding by e-mail who has made no money demands, who came to me out of the blue - maybe. Fine - I just correspond and wait for what happens.

If you have doubts, why not put your lad in a dilemma where his demands place you in some jeopardy, and see what his reaction is. This is a scenario I am about to play out with a lad, and I have little doubt of the outcome, and I will feel no remorse as I despatch him into the dustbin.

Technically, a baiter is not doing anything wrong... As much, make the lad believe there is something at the end of the road. Lads appeal to people's greed and so do baiters with lads, and greed is what gets them on the move, nothing else. We don't send them on safaris, they choose to go thinking it's them fooling us. They are the ones getting their asses tattooed thinking their travesty is working... Isn't poetic justice beautiful?

Gomerpyle mentioned what makes us different... My answer would be that we (allow me to refer to the baiter community and supporters alike) never target innocent people.
