Nervous about scammer having my email

I received a scam email and thought I'd mess with them a bit. It has only been a few emails back and forth. I found this site (had been here several years back) and after reviewing some posts I see that using my real email address isn't safe. What should I do now? Is there a way to block him? I will stop baiting him but he has my address so how do I end the bait?

Hello walknbluez and welcome to 419Eater.

Go silent and stop replying to his emails. He may write you, but he will stop, eventually, when he realizes that his victim has lost interest. Just delete his emails, or better yet, have your account throw them directly to the trash folder.

Then go create a new email address with a fake identity (Lady Marmelade or Bruce Wayne or whatever), I recommend Gmail, but any free webmail system will do, really. Now you can have fun with the lads in a safe way. You can even try to rebait your current lad with the new address - as long as you use a fake name, he won't make the connection. Just send a short "I received your email and I would be interested" and you should be back in the game. Smile

Just drop him.

Don't accuse him of being a scammer or end the bait, just stop responding, block him and disappear. Scammers are used to victims wising up and stopping communication, so after a few attempts to get a response from you he'll write you off as a waste of time and move on to the next victim.

Not sure what type of scam he is trying to trick you with but simply ignore him as others have suggested here. He will give up an move on at some point. You can always create a new anonomous email account elsewhere and send him an ASEM (accidentally sent email message) telling him that you are interested in his offer. He's a greedy lad and will certainly guide you as to how you can send payments to him. Then you destroy him...slowly. Welcome to Eater!

Good on you.

Do not bait this lad from another email address. While the probability is that he will never suss you out, its a value greater than zero. Its definitely not worth the risk as there are no rewards. Once you have been dealing with lads for a while you will see when a new character that they introduce is really just them. We have baiters that are far more observant than I am so from sentence construction and word choice can identify scammers from years back. Just drop your lad and put his email in the boot. (Car trunk.)

Great having you on Eater all these years. I think that you could be qualified as a favourite OG (Original guy) but not a postwhore. There are a lot of scammers just begging for your attention. Have fun and bait safely.
