So, I realize the technology isn't there quite yet(although it is close), but I can't help wondering how so called deepfake technology will affect our community, as well as the scammers as a group.
I mean, imagine....they could basically have an avatar that mimics their facial and body motions, allowing them to do video chats, do more convincing photos, etc, etc.
Of course, we could do the same which would add a whole new dimension to baiting the lads in terms of convincing them.
And when all is said and done, it wouldn't take too much effort. I've played with a couple of publicly released programs and you can already just about point and click your way to something halfway convincing to the uninitiated. Add to that there are unreleased algorithms that can make fakes from as little as 1 photo of someone and you get some really interesting(and more than mildy disturbing) possibilities.
Anyhoo, I guess what I'm getting at here, is what all of your opinions are on the matter as it relates to scams and the scambaiting community?
I'm really curious to know what you guys & gals think.
