Hello all. I’ve been chatting up a scammer (under the guise of a sexy young woman) for a week now and he just asked me for money. Problem is I was approached on my personal Facebook page and now moved to WhatsApp. Both are my real contact details.

It’s now up to the point where I’m supposed to send him money through MG.

Is it still safe to continue wasting his/her time?

Here on Eater, we often stress to BAIT SAFE. You should have read about this in the Guidelines we require all members to read before they begin baiting.

How to bait safe:
- Never use any of your real personal details. Everything must be fake. The last thing you want is your lads finding out who you really are.

- You should not use a user name here that you've used elsewhere on the internet. Contact a moderator or administrator to have your name changed. Do not create another account.

Drop the guy and block him immedietely

TSH has stated what you must do very succinctly. Block him on Facebook and WhatsApp. There are many fish in the sea. Read the stickies, set up a baiting email address and apply for a mentor.

Once you block him on Facebook he may notice that you are no longer on his friends list but not understand why. He will just move on to the next potential victim.

Once you have blocked the scammer on WhatsApp this will happen.

Scammer can no longer see a contact's last seen or online in the chat window. ...
Scammer not see updates to a contact's profile photo.
Any messages sent will always show one check mark (message sent), and never show a second check mark (message delivered).
