I have recently been receiving calls saying if i press 9 we can discuss lower interest rates on my visa or mastercard....i knew it was a scam from the start but have a hard time getting them to stay on the line long. Any tips or advice?

Hang up and block the calls. These sort of scammers can be very nasty (do things like abuse your number, call the police and say there is a crime taking place at your home, post your name and number to obscene websites, etc.) if you waste their time and do not pay. Remember, they already have your phone number and likely your name.
