Hello Kwon_wh!

It is great you want to bait and waste the time of scammers for the good thing! I have taken the liberty of briefly reading the conversation you have published and there are few things you should be aware of.

1) First of all - and this is very important - since I see it is from Facebook on phone, I strongly recommend you make sure you bait safely! That means not using any of your personal information. Is this your real facebook profile you had this conversation on? The phone number you gave to scammer is your phone number?

I definitely recommend creating profile with fake name, fake email address you can create and that doesnt lead back to you. These people are criminals and using your real identity to mess with them is not a good idea at all. If you really used your real profile on Facebook, I would stop any contact with the scammer and block their profile from accessing yours immidiately.

If you want to keep baiting, I recommend reading the guidelines around the forums and also requesting a mentor.

2) It is generally not a good idea to inform the scammer you know it is a scam or reporting their profiles. That way the scammer can find out where they went wrong and improve their strategy next time around - also reporting their profiles does not really damage them. They can create a new profile in 5 minutes.

Yeah, that is my real profile, but that number not mine, I just changed the numbers, so that number might have been some other dude.
I've noted your advice, that was indeed a bad bait, I should work on making the next one(I'm pretty sure I'm gonna encounter many more scammers) better so all of you can enjoy it more!!!

Hello again!

Baiting from your real Facebook profile is something I would strongly advice not to do. It has more information about you, than you can imagine. And you never know what some seemingly minor detail might tell about you. Definitely block this person. You can always create a fake profile later on Smile

I would also advice you not to do this. Unless you are 100% sure the number doesnt lead to real person, then don't send scammers random numbers to random people. This is called involving ITP's (innocent third party) - now the scammer can annoy or try to scam some "radnom dude" even though this person has nothing to do with your scambait. We never involve people/companies/businesses in such way. Again, reading around here will provide you plenty of information to get you started.

Hi Kwon,

Welcome to Eater. Mortal has given you accurate and excellent advice. We don't bait from any FB profile or social media profile that has ANY of your real life info-and that includes pics, friends etc. You are dealing with criminals and giving them info is a really bad idea. It's also a bad idea to give info belonging to another person: we don't involve Innocent Third Parties in our baits.

I'm going to leave your links up for right now, but please bait safe. If you want to publish a bait from a totally fake account, we'd be happy to read it. Please read the Stickies and think about getting a mentor?
