I'm not sure this is correct place to post this question,
I am currently selling my iPhone 6 via gumtree and had the below response :
'Please consider it sold and please cancel every other appointment regarding it as i am willing to pay your full asking price because i need to buy it for my cousin asap, i have read through the advert and i'm totally satisfied with it,sadly i would not be able to come personally to collect due to my hearing loss and me being in wheelchair.I'll be adding an extra £20 to cover the shipping and insurance for local, via Royal Mail First Class,I'll be paying via PayPal account Just email me back with your PayPal email address so i can make the payment '
Something tells me that this could be a scam; let's say it is - if I provided my PayPal email address what would possibly happen after that?
And how can I bait this one?

Drop this like a hot brick - it's definite scam
They'll over-pay you, to cover the shipping or some such, then ask you to repay the difference
The original "payment" from them will turn out to be dud, leaving you well and truly out of pocket, and minus a phone
There's no way to bait this as the person has all your real life details - any baits are run safely from fictional accounts
Just ignore/delete their messages and await a real buyer
Sad to say, probably the only safe way is to meet your buyer somewhere safe and deal in cash

Actually you can, but you need to make sure that the scammer cannot in any way connect the bait to you or to your ad.
1. Create a baiting character with a name that in no way resembles yours, who lives at an address that is plausible but does not exist, and who has an email address used only for baiting.
2. Make up an item that does not exist. The laptop brand is actually a species of tree called box elder (which is neither box nor elder but maple); there is no such laptop brand.
3. Write to the scammer from the baiting address as if he had sent an email to the baiting address in response to an ad for the nonexistent item. You don't have to post an ad for the nonexistent item.
