Sarah’s cousin, Crystal, believes Sarah is being conned into squandering her inheritance. Dr. Phil’s viewers join the effort to help track down the man behind the images of “Chris.” Is this a scam?

Yes. It is a scam.
Yes the guy should be hauled around the block by his unmentionables.

Heck...almost one and a HALF million $.
What was interesting was that at some point both WU and MG cut her off....but she went and got various family members to send her money to him. She even borrowed from loan sharks who later broke into her home.

This is about the 6th show Dr. Phil has done on this topic and I commend him for educating people but I wish he would take some time to do a general tutorial on how to identify Internet romance scammers. On each of the shows...he showed the victim various sorts of proof but the audience has to sort-of figure out how he did it.
I'd love to see him give a step-by-step tutorial (how to search the photos, the scripts the IP addresses, etc.)......or at the very least, strongly advise them to go to a site like scamwarner's to have them check out their internet love.

One thing that I found very interesting on this particular show was that for the first time...there were representatives from Nigerian law enforcement and government brought on as guests via camera...who presented the image of being very serious, very concerned and dedicated to fighting this type of fraud in Nigeria. On the previous 5 shows on 419 romance scams...there had been representatives from US law enforcement....but none from Nigeria.

On each of the previous 5 shows, Dr. Phil had clearly stated to the victim..."this is not who you think it is...you have actually been talking to a young African sitting in an Internet cafe in West Africa". The Dr. Phil show has a huge audience here in the US and my hope is that it was enough of a concern to Nigerian authorities that they agreed to participate.

I have to believe (and hope) that allowing these criminals to scam so freely in these countries will, over time, so damage their reputation globally (and economically)...that they may finally do more to stop it.
