Stabbing in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, MI -- Police are searching for a man who they say stabbed a woman after she refused to give him money at a Kalamazoo Township apartment.

Kalamazoo Township Police were dispatched to 2017 Elkerton Avenue Sunday evening on a report of a woman screaming in the hallway of an apartment complex. When officers arrived, they found a "large amount" of blood in the third floor hallway, according to a news release.

The blood was tracked to an apartment in the next door building where the victim was found. The victim told police that she was in her apartment with an acquaintance when an argument began because she wouldn't give the man any money.

The suspect then stabbed the woman several times and took cash and a cell phone. The suspect fled the scene and has yet to be located, police say. The woman identified the suspect to police, who are searching for him.

Police are seeking a charge of attempted murder against the man.

I was listening to my Police Scanner last night when that happened. I didn't get much more than a Stabbing before the Officers involved went to "Tack 8" (An unlisted channel). I see it on the morning news though.

Wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't end up being drug related.
