I'm new here. I'm 15 (male), and I want to have a hobby that is both humorous, and helpful. I need an avatar, and I am willing to train in the arts of scambaiting.

I've been found in a scam before, but never victimized by it. Luckily, I googled before I did anything else. I think the scammer is still responding, but I'm having trouble understanding what he/she wants and I don't want to mess up and do something illegal. So hopefully I'm able to get help in this forum.

Hello all. I have spent the last few evenings mulling over the site and going through some epic threads - I sometimes find it hard to believe these "lads" go for some of the yarns spun to them..... but then as mentioned in some of the stickies, they have so much time and effort invested in the scam they just can't let go (much like some of the real victims chasing their money).

I have never scam baited, but have a small background in annoying telesales people. Sure it's their job, they are earning a living, providing a service, but I dislike some of the pushiness and enjoy wasting their time as much as they waste mine. This has led me to this site looking for new ways to make a nuisance of myself - and what better way than to punish some unscrupulous individual looking to rob someone of their hard earned savings. Some of the epic posts here showing lads getting tattooed, going on safaris, covered in flour holding flaming torches almost defy belief! No illusions of grandure for me, a straight bait will do.

After reading through a wealth of info very kindly posted about starting out on this hobby, I was wondering what the etiquette is regarding asking for a "lad"? Is it considered polite to bring something to the table or as a newcomer would it be considered OK to be gifted the email address of a scammer with a little info on striking up a dialogue?

I joined almost a year ago, but had several life changing issues come up, so, I am not sure If I actually got a chance to introduce myself properly. Despite my name I am female, and I am all over the place location wise. As AD military I do not have a specific local to share.

I have tried my hand at baiting a couple times. My first lad got away, so I dealt with Gaming scammers. The people who tried to get your login information for your high profile game accounts. Most of the time they turned out to be little kids, and got easily scared away when you pulled up their IP addy and pinpointed where they were. (Most of them seemed hell-bent on posting from their iPhones.)

Now that my life has settled a little bit, I would like to get into real baiting again. So I hope everything manages to work out.

I certainly have done that - an email that is throw-away is imperative. I get enough uninvited crap to my RL email as it is without actually inviting some! Thanks for your thoughts.

We do miss Gimli though. ..Really pulled the line during the 500 in 6. Hopefully will return sometime. You can back out of the mentorship program and re-apply until you get a more active mentor. (Real life impedes sometimes) Welcome to Eater.
