I have always thought the deserts of Namibia were a spectacularly scenic destination for a safari. They have it all -- poisoned water holes, hungry lions, and ever present sand fleas.

For the really intrepid traveler, there are World War II minefields near El Alamein in Egypt which are just waiting to be explored!

I recently had a lad in Chad for a nice safari. He reported being picked off his cash by the local police several times. While this could have been lies I do think that it is rather likely that it actually happened.
