Lilly Ladbaiter and the Gremlins

This is my first ever started bait, and it is still going on now, although the lad is starting to get pretty difficult, so I don’t how well the second part will turn out. But this first part was hilarious and a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy! ~Alice Liddell~

Since this is the first bait I started, of course right off the bat I screw up and somehow deleted the original 419 email. It was the typical ‘I’m a lonely orphan named Ruth looking for love, help to access my daddy’s will, and I would like to move to your country to be educated’. I started out by dropping the info for my character, and then gave Ruth the email for Lilly’s cousin, Pete. I had planned on doing something with Pete and Ruth, but the lad sunk onto the hook for the exotic animal business, and as you will see it gets pretty wild. I didn’t include Pete and Ruth’s correspondence, it didn’t really amount to much. Pete insisted on a photo with a message, and Ruth refused and they stopped talking. But Ruth kept talking with Lilly and trying to get the whole thing back under control, because it quickly got out of control…for the lad!

The Scammer has 3 characters…
Ruth, the lovelorn orphan from Togo looking love and help to get her money
James Anderson, the barrister from London who knows a wildlife manager
Daniel Mpho, the wildlife manager from South Africa

I have 2 characters…
Lilly Ladbaiter- deals in exotic animals and is seeking gremlins for their high value
Pete Lattimer- Lilly’s cousin who is open to a romantic encounter- he is not featured himself in this bait, but is referenced, especially toward the end

My notes are in red, and the characters are in the colors above.
So the original 419 email comes in from Ruth from Togo, saying how much she loves my profile and was drawn to contact me (of course I didn’t have a profile), and that she also has a multimillion dollar fund left to her by her late father that will be confiscated by the government if I don’t help her get to it. Of course I will be richly rewarded with 30% of the fund, and the sweet love of Ruth who will move to my country to be with me. I send back a response, and my first ever bait begins….

The wild animal business is rough, I tell you. You have many wonderful wild animals in your part of the world, don't you? I believe you have lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my!! Well, if you know of any wild animal rustlers in your country, I am in dire need of a tiger or a lion. I will also be seeking more gremlins for a big payday in the US, gremlins are very popular. I think it's their magnificent transformation of plumage after being fed fried chicken at 1am. They can really wreck your Christmas, those mangy gremlins. Anyway, let me know if you know of anyone who can get me gremlins from Africa!

Anyway, I believe you sent your message to the wrong email, but if you would like to work with me in acquiring wild animals, perhaps you know of an animal rustler? Please let me know.

How about this? Can we agree on a message, one that only you and I will know, and you could send me a picture holding a sign with the message on it? I think a message that relates to my business would be great, can you send a picture holding a sign that says ‘I SHAG FURRY BUTTZ GREMLINS’? That would mean that you like to hug gremlins with my business. The picture must be large and the sign very clear, please! Once you have sent this picture to confirm your idenity, we can proceed on to getting this money out of the country for you. Again, please help me aquire some gremlins from Africa, I have attached a picture of them and I would pay you $200,000 PER gremlin. They are VERY hard to find, most people have never seen one! After this email, Ruth starts to email with Pete. I didn’t include it here because I felt it would get too convoluted, and nothing really special happened with it. The lad completely balked at any trophy, and they stop talking. Pete just becomes background, but he has talked with Ruth so the lad knows he is real (yeah, right!). So Ruth sends this quick little note to Lilly, but as you will see Ruth doesn’t stay out of it….

I want to let you know that i have meet with some people who can help you get all the animals you need and i gave them your email address as i do not know much about that.

My thread as Pete with Ruth is not really going anywhere, and it seems the lad thinks there might be more of a chance for some cash with Lilly and her animal business. His emails are peppered with odd things like ‘thanks for the reply’ and such on the fist email, which I take to be a sign he is confusing his characters. Don’t strain your brain too much, lad....

Alright, we’re in business! From here on, I’m not going to include the original header dates, because I did not record them when I recorded this whole thing in Word as it was happening, and it would take forever to put this together for posting. From now on I’ll include header dates when I post emails the first time in the word files. Still getting my baiting legs, ya know! This all started at the end of November, and is continuing now. Unfortunately it seems we have mixed ourselves up on that, I was in contact with a woman named Ms Ruth. It’s no problem though, I am sure Ms Ruth will get in touch with me and she and I can get down to our business. I wish you luck on your business with the Ms Julian.

But what luck we have found each other! You seem to know someone in South Africa who can get gremlins and/or lions for me! This is fantastic news, and I will of course compensate you for connecting me with your friend in SA. When your friend has contacted you to let you know he is able to aquire these animals, please let me know. The best way for me to receive the animals is for me to send my assistant (and cousin), Mr Pete Lattimer. We really do not like to have animals shipped to us, as they could easily be shipped incorrectly and kill someone, or die themselves. It’s much better for me to send Pete, he can meet your friend in SA when the animals are aquired, pay for them and bring them back with his own arrangements. During the whole month of December, as I end up mentioning a bit in this bait, the water heater in my house sprung a leak and we had to move into a hotel for a couple of weeks, while dealing with packing up the areas that had to be demolished and rebuilt. It was hell, but I did manage to keep up with my baits, and even made them sit on ice for a couple of days at a time while I was dealing with all the mess. It’s good for them to wait a bit, they are so damn earnest! Anyway, that’s why the ‘where are you’ emails, which came after only a 24 hour silence from me. Chill out dudes! After I tell them both I am in Asia on business and that buys me a couple of days to deal with my personal problems, I get settled into the hotel. I am confused, I don't believe you have provided Mr. Daniel Mpho's contact information. Also, what exactly is it he does? He is able to capture lions or gremlins, or does he know someone who can? What I am very interested in are gremlins, they are very rare and hard to find. Lions are a dime a dozen, but gremlins are what are very valuable. I was given your contact information by Mr James Anderson, and he told me you might be able to help me to acquire some animals for my business. I am an importer/exporter of exotic animals, based in The United States. I sell the animals to private owners here in the US, and some of these animals can sell for huge sums of money. I regularly purchase animals from Africa, such as lions, leopards, elephants, and even hyenas, but what I really am looking for are gremlins. Have you ever seen a gremlin yourself, Mr Mpho? They are very elusive creatures, there are not even any in a single zoo in the world, as far as I know. There was a movie made about them years ago, which is the only way many people have even heard of them. I managed to get a hold of 5 of them last year, and sold them for one million dollars (1,000,000$USD) to a man in Washington State. I think I could get even more for them though, I am going to try for one million dollars PER gremlin.

Mr James Anderson told me he has a friend with a wildlife group, named Daniel Mpho, and to contact him. I sent Mr Mpho an email inquiring exactly what he does for the wildlife group, and if he is able to aquire any African animals for me. I told him I am very interested in gremlins, as they are the most valuable. I am still waiting to hear back from Mr Mpho, so he and I can conduct our business.

I appreciate you giving them my reference.

I would want to let you know that there is no open market for this as this will be handled through my contact and special authorities to ensure that all angles of acquiring and exporting the animal will be met.

Dear Mr Mpho,

Thank you for your reply. I am unfortunately not able to speak on the telephone, I am almost completely deaf. I had an accident 6 years ago with a tiger whose cage I was standing too close to, and he reached out and was able to grab me. His claws on each front paw dug into my ears, and punctured my eardrums. It was a very bad accident, but apart from losing my hearing and a few nasty claw marks, I was not furthered injured. I do use sign language (ASL), and my cousin Pete translates when I am speaking in person with someone, however with the fortunate technology of the internet, I am able to conduct my business online through email. So we will have to use email to do our business, but that is how I normally do my business with clients all over the world, and I have not had a problem so far.

I am pleased you are able to secure some gremlins for me. I have 2 contacts here in US and one in Togo who are interested in buying them. As I’m sure you know, they are very elusive creatures, very difficult to catch, so I am pleased to know you are confident you can get some for me. I would like to know how many you think you can secure for our first transaction, and how much you plan on charging me PER gremlin? You said by Wednesday you should have more information on the gremlins you can get, so we will pick it up from there.

I did have an inquiry from my Togo contact about getting some tigers. I usually get tigers from Asia, as they are not native to Africa, but if you know of anyone in Africa who has some tigers already in their possession and are interested in selling them, I would be happy to purchase them at the same time as my gremlins. I would want young tigers, color or breed does not matter, and of course in good health.

As for other animals, at the moment I will not need any others from you, but in the future I might have requests for South African animals, and you will be my new contact in SA. I did have a previous contact in SA, but he was unfortunately killed by a rampaging elephant, I am sure you know how nasty they can be when disturbed.

I will of course need health certificates for each animal, a certificate PER gremlin and PER tiger. I’m sure you can find a vet who would be willing to do a routine exam, many will do it without making a fuss to the authorities. When you eventually have the animals secured and in custody, I will need you to email me health certificates for each animal, and I will need a picture of the animals you have to verify their possession. I would not want you to ship them yourself, these are very dangerous animals and they must be secured safely. My cousin Pete and I will come to SA to pick up the animals ourselves, we are going to need to come there anyway sometime in early January to bring over a Sasquatch for another client in SA. We can make it all one big trip.

I am writing to let you know I have been in contact with Mr Mpho, and he is confidant he can get the animals I need. You will of course be recieving a commission for referring him to me, my standard commission is 10% of total sales for this transaction. After this transaction, for future business with Mr mpho, I will keep in mind you referred him to me, and I will send you a percentage each subsequent sale after this one. When I have recieved payment for the animals from my clients, I will send you a payment directly. I am hoping to have the animals in hand and on their way to their destinations by early January, it will just depend on how quickly Mr Mpho can acquire the animals, but he seems confidant he can do it very soon.

Today in South Africa is public holiday and there is not much that I can do today. However, I will give you all details/updates on Wednesday on the amount of money that each of this animal will cost. I have already contacted my friend in the Govt who is the chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Game Reserves in South Africa to come into this as he will assist us with his office to ship or export this animals to you to the United States without eyebrows been raised as these animals are exotic and rare breed animals and can hardly be sold out. This will be of great breakthrough to us in this regard.

Hello Ruth,

I am not able to provide gremlins to someone else at the moment, I am trying to buy them myself. I buy the animals from other people, and sell them to private collectors in the US. It is possible I could acquire some to sell to your friend, but first I would need to secure them from Mr Mpho, so it would likely be awhile before I have any I could then sell to your friend. I already have many buyers here in the US, who I have secured contracts with to provide them the first 10 gremlins I can get, so they will go to those buyers first. I went back through your previous emails, and saw that you want 20 gremlins. This will be very difficult, as they are elusive creatures, and very hard to catch. I will do my best though to secure some your client, though, after I have acquired 10 for my clients here in the US. The price will depend on what Mr Mpho charges me for them. Tell your client to be prepared to spend at least $1.5 million (1,500,000USD), but I will not know the final price until I know from Mr Mpho.

As for tigers, I will have to make some inquiries to my contacts in Asia, as tigers are not found on the African continent, unless they are already shipped to Africa to be sold. I will inquire to Mr Mpho about tigers, perhaps he can get some for me to sell to your client. Of course you should paid a commission fee for any animals I can acquire and sell to your client, my standard commission for agents is 10%. This is a common commission price for the work an agent does, which really is just acting as a go-between.

I appreciate your offer to act as agent to me and Mr Mpho, but there are 2 reasons that will not work. One, he is in South Africa and you are in Togo, so he not local to you. There would be no reason for me to use an agent that is nearly half a continent away from my supplier. The other reason is that if I am going to be selling animals I buy from Mr Mpho to your client, with you as an agent to your client, it would be a breach of ethics for me to you have act as agent between the me and Mr Mpho. In fact, in the deal with Mr Mpho acquiring the animals for me for your client to buy, technically I’m the agent. It is an ethics issue, so while I appreciate the offer, I would not be able to use you as an agent for my business with Mr Mpho. I already have Mr Anderson, who referred me to Mr Mpho, involved in this deal. Mr Anderson is not really an agent in this deal, but he is the one who referred me to Mr Mpho and I do not want to do him wrong. I would lose too much money bringing in another person. Mr Anderson will be receiving a commission for referring me to Mr Mpho, and you will receive a commission for your client when I am able to secure the animals for your client.

Pete told me he received a very upsetting email from you. I want you to know that I will not get involved in the business between you and him, but he is my cousin and I will look out for his best interest. I hope you two can work out whatever the problem is.

You will have to give me some time to secure gremlins for your client, and I will see what I can do about tigers. I will let you know when I have some animals for your client, I will contact you then.

In the Zoo, we have only three Gremlins of which that we can only give you one of them as giving you two will raise eyebrows. And with the help of my friend who is in the Presidency and happens to be the Chairman of Presidential Task Force on Wild Game Reserves in South Africa, he has been of great help and assistance to us.

He has promised to freight these animals to you in the US as there would be some transfers of some African wild cats to South Carolina and want to use this opportunity to carry along this animals to you of which I would be made known where or which location that you will come down in the US and collect your animals. This transportation is free due to my relationship with him and this will be on or before the 28th of December 2012. I am surprised to hear that any zoo has some gremlins! The last I heard no one was able to keep them alive in captivity. That is very good news for the species, perhaps they can start a breeding program and return them to their full numbers in the wild.

I am in need of far more than just one gremlin, though. The two lions are fine, lions are a dime a dozen and I can easily sell the two lions. The prices you quoted me for the purchase of both the lions and gremlin are fine too. However, I will need more than one gremlin, and as I will be coming to South Africa the second week or so January, that gives us time for you to have an animal hunter go out and try to find more gremlins. I have clients in the US who want a total of 10, and a client in Togo who is looking for 20 gremlins. I know it might be hard to find 30 gremlins, but if we could at least get the number to 10 or 20, I could split them between my US and my Togo clients.

As I have mentioned before, I do not need you to ship them. These are dangerous animals, and I always make sure to have either myself or my cousin Pete go to the country where we are buying the animals from, and take them back ourselves. That way we know they are secured safely, and we don’t ever pay money up front. We do pay cash however, so when we get to South Africa, we will have cash on hand for the two lions and however many gremlins you can manage to procure.

Before we leave to come there, we will need health certificates for EACH animal, you can just scan them in and email them to me. I will also need a picture of the animals, just to verify you have them. This is all standard business for exotic animals, as I’m sure you know. We will need those health certificates and pictures before we come, likely the second week of January. I should know next week the exact dates we will be coming there, I have to wait until my client in SA who I am selling the Sasquatch to decides when he wants it, but he definitely will want it around the second week of January.

I hope your trip went well. I have heard from Mr Mpho, and he has been able to get two lions, but only one gremlin. I just wrote him back, and told him that since I will be coming to South Africa the second week in January (I should have the exact dates next week) to deliver a Sasquatch for another client, that gives us time for him to have an animal hunter go out and find more gremlins. I am really hoping he is able to get more gremlins, they are very popular and I have a few clients, both in the US and in Togo, who want a total of 30 gremlins. I could settle for 10-20 gremlins, but I am dearly hoping for more than just one.

He said he was going to ship them himself, but I never have animals shipped for me, I always go, often with my cousin Pete, to get the animals myself. These are dangerous animals, and for my own peace of mind, as well as my insurance, I prefer to go directly to where the animals are, pay for them in cash once I have seen them, and bring them with me to where ever I am selling them. I also never pay money up front without being there to confirm the animals are indeed able to be sold to me; this is how I do business, I find it is the best way. In this case, it will depend on how more gremlins he can get before I know whether I will stopping in Togo first, or coming directly back to the US. I had promised my US clients their animals before I made a deal with my Togo client. Let’s hope he can get more gremlins, it will mean more money for both you and me!

As I said before, I will be giving you 10% of the total amount from this sale, how much that will be will depend on how many gremlins he can get. As soon as I find out how many more he can get before my trip there, I will let you know how much you will be getting. I already have the buyers of the animals set on a price, and based on what Mr Mpho is charging me for them, it will be a very good profit. I will be sending you your 10% as soon as I have the payment from my clients when the animals are delivered, however you prefer your payment sent (check, bank deposit, ect) will be fine with me. If I’m going to be picking up the animals the second week of January, I will be delivering them to their clients within 5 days or so of picking them up from Mr Mpho. I do not stay and vacation or anything like that when I am doing business, I usually fly in, pick up the animals and pay for them, stay for one night to get some rest, then fly to the country where the buyers are. Sometimes I don’t even stay for a night, depending on how short the trip is. So, you should have your payment by the third week of January, if all goes well; often it just depends on the flights themselves, hopefully I won’t encounter any long delays at the airport.

Everything seems to be going okay except the number of gremlins. I really need more than one from Mr Mpho, but I understand he can only get one from the zoo there, which is why I will need him to get an animal hunter to go out into the bush and procure more. Let’s hope all goes smoothly and we get more gremlins!

I have already told my hunters to go in the bush to get at least three or four gremlins and they promised that they will try their best to get it, though this is a difficult task but I know that with God all things are possible. I will find out from them before the end of the year. According to them, this requires sleeping in the bush for days and set traps and monitor the activities in the bush and consequently take it from there. However, they need some motivation financially to push them to work assiduously. So in this regard Madam, can you kindly send anything that can ginger them to work for us in other to get the results that we needed? This is highly important. I will not mention any amount but you know exactly that this is a high risk job, so I will advise you to use your initiative to send some substantial amount that can sustain them and we can get the results soon.

I will send you the health certificates before your arrival in South Africa as well as the pictures for you to see them that are not a problem. My worry is you made mention that you are coming into the country with cash, are you going to hide it from the customs or you will declare it as I do not want you to risk anything because this is huge sums of money coupled with, if our hunters gets more gremlins for us, the amount will increase, therefore let me know so that I may know how I can be of help to you in this regard.

I would want to let you know that due to fact that this animals are rare breeds and Govt do not want them to leave our shores, I will advise you that once I have all of them in my custody you will surely come down to South Africa so that this can be shipped to the US immediately in other to avoid the law to get us. I am pleased to hear you have found some hunters willing to try to acquire us some more gremlins. However, I never pay in advance to ‘motivate’ an animal hunter to go out and capture animals to be sold, most work for their fee they receive from the person hiring them; in this case, whoever they normally work directly for that you are involved with for this deal. However, if it truly is an issue for them and they will want more than whatever their standard pay is, I will gladly bring more money with me to pay extra for their services when I arrive there in South Africa. The profit from these gremlins is so large, I can afford to give a little extra to the hunters, but not until I actually have the animals in my presence. If they are demanding money now from you, you could pay them upfront and I will repay you when I arrive, or you can tell them they will be paid handsomely for their services at the end and should settle with that. Don’t let them try to boss you around, tell them they will be making more money out of this deal at the end than they realize. I simply will not send any money for services not yet performed, in the case of the hunters, and I never pay anything for any animal until I have personally come to where they are and laid eyes on them myself. This is all very standard in the exotic animal trade, in fact in any business deal, payment is not given until services are rendered. Let me know how many hunters are going out, I could bring an extra few thousand dollars for each of them when I come there. It depends on how many there are as to how much extra I could bring, I do not want to lose too much of my profit from this deal, but I am also a generous woman.

Do not worry about me travelling with the cash, I never actually tell customs I have it. It is illegal to travel with more than $10,000 without declaring it, and if I declare it I have to pay taxes. But, if I do business in any other way other than cash, I also have to pay taxes. I have travelled many times to buy animals, more times than I can count, and used only cash. I have a very simple yet effective way of hiding it. I don’t like to hide it in my luggage in case customs wants to search it, so since I always bring my own (very large) animal cages to ship the animals back home in, I have some specially made cages that have hidden compartments, and that is where I hide the cash. I also spray the money with anti-dog sniffing spray (drug smugglers often use it, it works very well); although to be honest, they really only use dogs these days who can smell drugs or bombs. They are far more concerned about drug smuggling and terrorism, but all the same, I keep the cash very well hidden and can carry quite a lot of it. You will be amazed when I show you the hidden compartments in the cages and how much cash they can actually hold! Also, you mentioned the need to get the animals out of the country fast. That is not a problem, especially since I am bringing cages myself. If we end up needing more cages to ship the animals back out of SA, I’m sure the airline can provide some; all airlines actually make their money by shipping cargo, the passengers are just there to balance out the weight. Did you know that? I was so surprised when I learned about that years ago. I guess it explains why so many airlines have terrible customer service! Anyway, I have buyers waiting on standby who will buy as many of those gremlins as we can provide, so the animals already have buyers (even the animals not yet caught!) and we will ship them back out of SA the same day.

When you have the zoo and the organization providing the hunters and the yet-to-be-caught animals do the health exams and give you the health certificates, keep in mind that in the animal trade, it is up to the seller to prove the health of the animal, therefore the buyer (me) never pays for the health exam, that is always included in the price of the animal. The zoo where we are getting the two lions and one gremlin from will not give you a problem with this, they understand that the health exam and certificates are included in the price. However, do not let the organization the hunters work for (hunters always work for an organization that sells the animals) try to scam you into paying for the health exam; otherwise they are not reputable and we will not do business with them. You tell them that the cost of the exam and papers are included in the price of the animals, period. All you will have to do is scan them into the computer and email them to me, along with a simple photo of the lions and gremlins (in cages of course, do not try to open the cages of the gremlins, they are very nasty).

For your services, I will be giving you 30% of the sales of the animals you are arranging for me. Your friend Mr Anderson is getting 10% for referring you to me, but you are doing considerably more so your cut will be higher. That leaves 60% of the profits for me. I trust this is agreeable with you? I can only pay you your 30% of the profits after I have sold the animals, but as I said the buyers are waiting and they are very reputable, they will pay me by bank deposit as soon as the animals arrive to them (I guess they don’t mind paying taxes…fools!). I should have your 30% within days of shipping the animals out of SA. This is of course separate from the cash I will be using to actually buy the animals with in SA, that cash is coming with me to SA. I just want to make sure that was clear. When we know how many animals we have in total, then we can add it up and I will know how much to bring to SA with me. We are going to make a huge profit on this, Mr Mpho. I have asked for a very large sum of money per gremlin from my buyers, the lions will be a bit cheaper but still profitable. It’s those gremlins, which for some reason are very popular right now, that will bring us a huge profit. I will of course be coming there also with some of my own personal money, and my cousin Pete and I will treat you to very nice dinner and perhaps a night on the town, if you wish, all on us. While I’m there, I would also like to buy you a nice gift, for all your help and kindness. You will like my cousin Pete, who is coming with me, he is a funny guy, and once we gets some drinks in him, he will having you rolling with laughter!

I too have to work through Christmas this year, so we will celebrate a late Christmas together when I get there and after we have shipped the animals off to their new homes. However, if you are able to locate gremlins for me in Togo, I would come there after SA to purchase those animals, as I am always being asked by my clients for gremlins. They are popular little things! I recall you said you have no experience in dealing with the exotic animal business, so if you have a contact within the company or organization that has them, and can have them contact me, I will give you 10% of the total amount I receive for the animals from my buyers. I would of course be paying cash to the person I am buying the animals from, but I would not be able to give you your 10% until after I sell the animals. However, I have buyers on standby, and I will have the animals sold and shipped within days and be able to give you, and my other contact Mr Anderson, both your 10% immediately after receiving payment from my buyers. They are very reliable buyers and always pay by bank deposit so it’s immediate. If all goes well, and I don’t have any other transactions come up during that time, Pete and I could stay in Togo, ship the animals ourselves and receive our payment, then give you your payment and we could all take a nice Safari vacation in somewhere like Kenya. I would enjoy that.

Since you have expressed interest in possibly working with me and Pete in my business, if you want to handle the deal yourself instead of having the seller contact me, it’s not too difficult, I would just need you to get health certificates for each animal, and to provide a picture of the animals (in their cages or wherever they are being held) before I come there for verification. This is all standard, and if you are interested in working for me, it would be a good start for you to begin learning the business. The company selling the animals provides for the health exams and the certificates, it is standard business for them to prove the health of the animals before any money is exchanged, and they will give you a separate certificate for each animal. I’m sure they would also be willing to take a photo of the animals for you to send as well, so you will not have to anything but email me the results and act as an agent in the transaction. Unlike the deal with Mr Mpho, were you would have been the buyer, having you act as an agent in Togo for a whole new seller is not a conflict of ethics, so I am fine with that. I would need each certificate scanned into the computer and emailed to me, along with the photo of the animals, but that will only cost you a bit of time on the computer. They will not ask you to pay for the health exam, and if they try to, they are not a standard company and we won’t want to do business with them. If you choose to go that route and do this yourself, you would still receive 10% of the sales, and unless you have the money to pay for the animals yourself and have them with you when I arrive, then the person actually selling them to me would need to be there with all of us when the transaction happens, so I can pay them. I of course will only pay when I actually see the animals after I have arrived, but that should be a given. As I have mentioned before, I prefer to deal in cash; I don’t like paying taxes, and I have a secure way of travelling with more cash than is allowed. I have never been caught with too much cash, it is very easy to hide it from the airport security. Their sniffing dogs are more concerned about drugs than money.

I had planned on bringing Pete with me on this trip anyway, as it will be a lot of animals (hopefully) and he is keen to visit South Africa again. He keeps talking about wanting to go on one of those boat tours where they let you go down in a shark cage to see the Great White sharks. I would like to try that myself, but it will depend on how much time we have, I don’t like to spend a lot of time vacationing while on business, and I have Mr Anderson on standby who will be waiting on his payment, which I can only give after I have sold the animals. I do have buyers lined up who want many gremlins, and the two lions from SA I am selling to a man here in California. Anyway, I would definitely be interested to find out more about buying some gremlins there in Togo, but I will still buy the ones from Mr Mpho as well. I do not go back on my word. Neither Pete nor I have been to Togo, I would be excited to visit there for the first time!

I have also made some cash available for them as Christmas token to them and not in the name of the assignment that they are embarking and they have promised to get at the minimum of least extra five gremlins which I hope will go a long way. So we have to wait to know how many they would have captured in other to tell you exactly how much will be involved and how much you are to come along with.

Consequently, I am relieved after hearing your explanation on how to bring in cash to the country. That is very smart of you and all my fears now are gone as through that way, no one will suspect anything. That is amazing as I have learn from you too.

Fantastic news! It is welcome news after the last few days I have had. My water heater in my house busted and flooded my kitchen, so I have had to move into Pete’s house for a couple of weeks while the damage is repaired. It will not affect our business, it’s just made for a very difficult few days for me, I am absolutely exhausted.

I am very flattered by your compliment; Miss USA, that is high praise indeed! Thank you very much. I am having my assistant Anna make travel arrangements for me and Pete, so I needed to make sure what city in SA, and which airport, would be best for me to fly into. Tomorrow I should have an email from the buyer in SA who is purchasing that Sasquatch from me that I am bringing, and he will let me know exactly which dates in the second week of January work best. Pete is actually meeting a girl if we go to Togo. He is a handsome guy, and very nice. He always comes with me on my trips since he reads sign language, with my hearing impairment it really helps to have someone who can translate. I hope he and this girl in Togo get along, I actually need to find out if I am even going to be going to Togo. It won’t affect my travel arrangements for SA though, either way, I can just add on the flight later.

I plan to stay 3 days in SA, 2 nights, so that I can be there for a couple of days to make sure your payment goes through. I don’t want to leave you before I have paid you your 30%, I don’t feel that would be right. Perhaps, if you like, if we will be somewhat close enough to the coast to drive there, we could go on one of those Great White shark tours. I would love to see the White sharks breaching out of the water to catch seals, I think this is the time of year for it. Everything sounds like it’s perfectly in place! My assistant Anna checked air ticket prices, and they going to be cheaper after January 1st, we think it’s because of the holiday. So she will book me and Pete’s ticket at the end of next week, and I will email you the confirmation. The dates will be- flying into SA January 14th (Monday) and leaving January 17th (Thursday). Will these dates work okay for you? We also will need a large, private building to unload the cash from the cages, and reload them with the animals.

That’s too bad about the sharks, but I wasn’t sure how far away they are. I’ve seen them on the National Geographic specials, and they are really something amazing! As you said, my next trip we will have to all go see them together.

I’m pretty swamped right now dealing with the damage from the water heater break in my home, so it sounds like we are right on schedule and we will just wait until I can book my ticket next week, for the prices to go down after the holidays, and to find out how many gremlins we will have in total. I am thrilled to hear the hunters have caught more gremlins! They are very good hunters, I know how difficult it is to catch those critters. Please keep a tally of how much money you have given the hunters so I can repay you when I arrive. Besides the 2 lions and the 1 gremlin we are getting from the zoo, how many gremlins have they caught so far in total? It would probably be best for the hunters to return from the bush this weekend, since I will flying out there a week later, that will give you time to get the health exams done and the certificates and photos of the animals emailed to me. I will need them before my trip there so I can pass them on to my buyers, and if the hunters can finish their hunt on Sunday, I will buy how ever many they have caught by then. The 3 buyers I have want as many as I can sell them, and the 2 lions will be going to one of those buyers as well, so they are all ready to buy them. By finishing the hunt on this Sunday, that will give us a full week to take care of the final preparations; you getting the health exams done and myself to pack the cash safely into the secret compartments in the cages. Remember, when you are having the health exams done and taking the photos, do not get anywhere near a gremlin without it either in a cage (for the photos) or after the doctor has sedated them for the exam. They are very dangerous animals, and I do not want you to get hurt. I know you are experienced with wildlife, but I do not know how much you have dealt with gremlins before and your safety is important to me.

My assistant Anna has our flight confirmation, and due to the fact that we could only find flights with a long layover and it will take us 2 days to get to SA, we are extending our trip to Sunday January 20th. She has emailed me the confirmation (she works from her home in Alaska), of course the full credit card is redacted out for security purposes, but the arrival time and flight information is all there. There were no direct flights, at all, from Los Angeles to Johannesburg, so I will be leaving on Monday, January 14th at 11:40 am, stopping in New York for a 14 hour layover, and then continuing to JNB in SA, landing at 8:30 am on Wednesday, January 16th. Because the flight itself will take a couple of days, I am going to plan on extending our trip to at least that weekend, the 19th and 20th. That way, I can still be there for a few days while the animals get shipped back out and wait for our payment to come through. We booked a one-way since we might still be going on to Togo, but whether we do or not, we will stay until you are paid your 30%. We use a small, private travel booking agency that deals mainly with business clients who prefer some privacy with their affairs. Since bringing so much cash is not legal, even though it’s well hidden I still find it best to be discreet and business-like in my deals. I have been doing this for 8 years, all over the world, and even in this day of heightened security I never encounter any problems. Being a charming and professionally dressed woman also helps; I know that most drug smugglers get caught because they look sloppy, act nervous and use established booking methods. Pete and I are stone cold professionals. I have attached a copy of the flight confirmation, and I will also send a copy to Mr Anderson. We are booked as bringing 8 cages, but I can get more from the airline in SA if we need them. The cages will only fit one lion each, but we can put two to three gremlins in each one.

The man in SA who is buying the Sasquatch that me and Pete are bringing is meeting me at the airport and picking the animal up there. I arranged this so he does not need to know anything about our business with the gremlins and lions, it’s none of his concern and he is very understanding of such things. Also, this way we won’t lose any time in unloading the cash from the cages, paying for the animals and getting them into my cages, and we will be able to ship them out to their new homes the same day. You said you are having a driver meet us at the airport; have him come to the terminal, where we are also meeting the buyer of the Sasquatch. I will give the buyer the forms to pick up his new animal himself from the cargo area, and he has already arranged a bank deposit for my payment of the Sasquatch so I will not be tied up at all in completing that deal. Your driver can just meet us at the terminal, I will meet the buyer at the same time and turn over his animal’s forms, and then we can immediately go with your driver to pick up our luggage and the empty cages (empty except for the cash, of course!) and we can head directly to meet you. Ask your driver if he will hold up a simple sign that says ‘Lilly and Pete’ so we recognize him. Tell him that Pete and I dress very professionally when we travel, Pete will be wearing a dark suit and I will be wearing a dark ladies pantsuit with a white blouse. You may also show him the pictures I sent you so he knows what we look like.

I will leave the hotel booking up to you, I trust you will pick a wonderful hotel and I know you will take care of Pete and myself in that matter. Since the flight is going to take two days and we will be staying longer than the 17th to wait for the payment of the animals, let’s go ahead an book the room for the 16th (Wednesday, the day we arrive) to the 20th (that Sunday). I have not had a departure flight from South Africa booked yet, as I want to wait, even to the last minute, to find out whether or not I am going to Togo. If I have not had any deal in Togo become successful by my last day in SA, I will just buy a couple of return tickets for myself and Pete. I will take care of the flight for the animals back out of SA after we bring them to the airport, and then we will have a few days to just wait to get paid! We will all have a fantastic time together for those few days, I am really looking forward to it.

I think I have covered everything so far; do you have any other questions or concerns at this point? So, just to go over our ‘list’ of what we both need to do before my flight out there….on your end, have the hunters end their hunt this coming Sunday, and we will take how ever many gremlins they have caught. Please give them my deepest thanks, and let them know I will be giving them each a bonus. I do need to know exactly how many hunters were involved so I know how much to bring for them. Also, you keep up with how much money you have given them so I can repay you. I will leave the hotel arrangements up to you, I trust you will find a wonderful place, and I will pay for the room myself when we get there. Remember we will be leaving LAX on January 14th, but will not arrive in SA until the 16th, so we will stay until the 20th to take care of your payment. After the hunters return on Sunday, let me know how many gremlins we have in total, including the zoo animals, and then next week you can get their health exams done and send me the certificates. On my end, after I know how many animals in total I am buying, the final prices of them, how much I need to bring for the hunters and for you, then I will add it up and go see my accountant next week to withdrawl my cash. I will then pack it up into the cages, and await the health certificates. Once my buyers have the certificates and the photos of the animals, they will start their process of payment, to be released when the animals arrive to them. I will be able to let you know how much your 30% of the profit will be once we have the total number of animals, and I get the health certificates to the buyers and they agree to my price as long as the animals are healthy. I think that should cover everything for now.

We are extending our trip to January 20th, so that we can stay there in SA until the animals have reached their new homes and I receive the payment for them. That way, I can be there to give Mr Mpho his payment, I didn’t want to leave SA before paying him. I will also need to know what method of transfer you will prefer for your payment, and I will know how much your 10% will be next week after I have the health certificates to give to the buyers, and they agree to my price after proof of health. I know you are going to be very pleased, you will be getting a very large chunk of money, as these buyers have agreed on a very high price as long as the animals are proven healthy. I should have the payments from them by bank deposit by no later than Friday the 18th , then I can send your payment the same day by whatever method you prefer.

Everything is moving well and the hunters told me that they are closing in on two more that has been coming around their cage. Two of my hunters got injured and they are been treated adequately as I have reassured them that they will be adequately compensated with their efforts. The job is not an easy one sleeping in the bush all through the nights and to monitor the animals, I have praise them even on your behalf.

The total gremlins now in custody are four and the two young lions. And if they caught the two as promised, that will make it six. But that have to wait till it happens but I have called them over the phone after reading your e-mail that this hunting will stop on Sunday and they should be returning the same day. The Gremlin in the zoo have been moved to join the others in the hide out where I kept all of them and all are doing well as I fumigate that place thoroughly and the feeding is not easy due to the dangerous attitude but all is going well.

So for now, the total is nine hundred and twenty dollars ($920,000) for the animals and if they caught the next two, that will push it to one million, three hundred and twenty ($1 320,000.00). The hunters are seven in numbers and I have promised each of them ten thousand dollars each that take it seventy thousand dollars ($70,000) plus ten thousand (10,000) for the man of Quarantine who has been fumigating the animals and so far have given the hunters about five thousand dollars ($5000) for their upkeep in the bush and three thousand and five hundred ($3,500) for feeding those young lions and also for those who are helping to feed the animals. So the totalling will be One million, four hundred and eight thousand, and five hundred dollars. ($ 1,408, 500.00)

So this is the total figure that we will be looking at when you arrived in Johannesburg. I have assured the hunters that they will be getting their payments first on your arrival and they are all excited.

With regards to the hotel reservations, you be lodged at one of the best hotels and you will be happy. I will send the details across to you while e-mailing the health certificates to you by next week. I really love your way of working ahead and within this short time that we have communicated, I have learned a lot from you. If there is anything that you want to amend, please feel very free and tell me.

My next e-mail to you will be the good news of two more gremlins and other mail, the health certificates. Then all things would have been concluded. My driver will meet you on arrival in the terminal at O.R. THAMBO Airport.

Lastly, please kindly buy two I pads and two Samsung galaxy note as presents which I want to give to some of colleagues who have given us assistance with the instruments that the hunters were using. I have not heard back from you Ruth, you seemed very interested in working with me and Pete, and you said you might be able to get some more gremlins for us from Togo. Pete and I are leaving for South Africa on January 14th and will be staying until January 19th or 20th. We have already booked our trip and everything is set up for it, but we did not yet book a return flight because we wanted to wait and see if we will be coming to Togo for more gremlins from the company you mentioned. I will need to know if you are able to acquire those animals as soon as possible, I would need health exams done on the animals, and the health certificates emailed to me before I could even book the flight. I have to be able to verify the animals with my buyers before I will go pick them up. I am telling you this because as we leave for South Africa in 12 days, I would need to get this deal going if we are going to do it.

I would be paying cash for the animals, and I have thought of a way I could bring it to Togo even though we am stopping in South Africa for another deal. I'm not going to give you too many details on my business in SA, as that is not professional, but I will tell you that everytime I buy animals I use only cash, so I have come up with a foolproof way of smuggling into and out of other countries. Otherwise I would have to declare it and pay a HUGE tax on it to the US Government, which will just squander it. I have the cages I use for shipping the animals to their buyers specially made with false bottoms, it makes a 'secret' compartment to hide the cash in. So I thought about it, and realized I could just load up however many cages I would need with cash, if you are able to find me some more gremlins in Togo, and leave them here when we leave for SA. When we get to SA, I will be shipping the cages I brought there back with the animals in them the same day, so I will have already arranged to have the cages left here and pre-loaded with the cash for Togo shipped to me in SA; from there we can fly with them to Togo. It would be perfect, and I am really hoping you are able to get some more animals for me there, I am always up for doing as much business as possible.

If you are not able to do this in the time before we leave for SA, just let me know if in the future if you come across anyone who has exotic animals for sale, I would likely be interested. I know you told me you have someone there that is looking to buy some animals as well, so while at the moment my supply is very low and I wouldn't be able to make a sale to them now, that could change at any time and I will let you know if I am able to sell some to your buyer.

I hope you are doing well, and I appreciate you trying to acquire more gremlins for me. However, it does not matter what country the deal is being made in, the cost of the health exam and the certificates is always included in the cost of the animal. She might know you are new at this business, as my seriousness in acquiring the animals comes with the cash I would bring to buy them with. She is just trying to scam us out of more money than what she would charge for the animals, which makes me think she is not a reputable seller. All reputable sellers know that not only is the health exam included in the animal’s price, but that the only thing necessary to reserve an animal is a contract. It’s not your fault, Ruth, she is just trying to pull one over on you.

Since she already has animals housed for sale, if she will do the normal thing and provide health certificates, I will still buy some from her, depending on the price. If she doesn’t know whether she would have enough left over to sell by the time I could get to Togo (I would be in South Africa until the 20th), then I will be happy to sign a contract for her to hold some of the animals.

Talk to her again, be firm and tell her that you know how the business is done (don’t tell her you are new at this, but if she already knows then just act very confident when talking to her and repeat what I have told you), and that since this is a straight up purchase for animals she already has, if she wants to sell them to me than I will need the health certificates and photos of the animals to give to the buyers before they will agree on my price. I will also need to know how much she is charging for the animals before I would agree to buy them.

Let me know either way. People in this business can be very shady, so you have to be firm with them. I am a very generous and trustworthy woman, but I also do not let anyone walk over me, so I will be firm too. I will instruct you on what to say to her, but just remember to act with confidence and you will be fine. Remember, we only have a week and 2 days before I leave for South Africa, and I will need the health certificates and photos of the animals to give to my buyers before I can commit to buying them. If she wants a contract, make sure that she has it stated in the contract that I agree to buy the animals from her, so she knows I am serious, but it must state that the sale will depend on a successful health exam. I went to meet with the woman as you directed me and after all what i told her, she took me to her big yard and there i saw wonders today with my eyes as she took me to her other yard where i have not seen since we started negotiating on this business. She has alot of wild animals and big snakes too. This is her business for sure based on what i saw. She even told me that she has alot of buyers from South Africa, Kenya and Zimbabwe as she told me when i told her that you will go to South Africa to buy some and after which you fly down to Togo to buy from her also. Do you know that i tried to use my phone to snap picture on the animals and she refused and said, unless i have a commitment from you people that you need my animal and commit me to get the health certificate. I am sorry I did not write back to you quicker, but I have been able to move back into my home, although there is still some repairs that still has to be done. The last 2 days I had to deal with moving from Pete’s house back into my own, and trying to put things back in order. The plumber also found a problem with the pipes behind my clothes washer, so he was here all day today (Friday) working on it. It is nearly midnight here in LA right now, so I am utterly exhausted and am going to go to sleep soon. I do check my email each day, but I just didn’t have a chance to write an adequate response until now.

I am so sorry to hear that two of the hunters were injured! That is very unfortunate, but I am glad they are getting medical care, and please have them know they will be each be getting the $10,000 you asked for, so the two who are injured can take some time off of work and recover; the other 4 who were not injured will also be getting $10,000 as you asked. That is fine, they have done a very good job.

I do not want to have to pay over $2,000 for a month long rental that we will only need for an hour or two. Since you already have the one compound for the animals, that will be enough. We don’t need much space, so if we absolutely have to, we can drive the cages out into the bush a bit (not far out, just outside of town) and unload the cash where there are no people, or we will just do it in the compound you have already been using for the animals.

All the prices and the costs you have kept up with are fine, I can cover all it with no problem when I get there. As I said, I can fit quite a lot of cash into those cages, you will be amazed when you see them! So, let me recap our total costs…

Now, for the news that is going to really blow your mind…your 30% share of the profits comes to $210,000.00USD (two hundred and ten thousand dollars). I have asked for quite a lot for these animals from my buyers, and they all 3 agreed to my price as long as the health exams show they are healthy. I really hope you are able to do something very good for yourself with this money, and you have definitely earned it. Mr Anderson is getting a sizable chunk too, for his help in recommending you. I am so pleased that this deal is going to be so profitable for all of us.

I will call my accountant tomorrow; I have already spoken to him this week, and he agreed to come in to his office as soon as I had confirmation of how many gremlins were caught, so he can get the paperwork fast tracked for me to withdraw my cash on Monday. There are a lot of forms I have to fill out at the bank to withdraw that much cash, but he is going to help me to get it done quicker so I can have the rest of the week to pack it into the cages. I’ll have to spray each stack of bills with the anti-dog sniffing chemical, and then carefully pack it into the cages. I am going to leave out $10,000 to bring in my carry on luggage, since that is the legal amount I can leave the country with without having to declare it.

Now that we have the total number of animals and their costs, I can give the lad a really big carrot and let him know how much money he will make once the animals are sold, which is separate from the cash I’m bringing to SA. I should explain my line of thinking at this point, in case it isn’t clear…see, I’m hoping this lad is planning to kidnap me and Pete, rob us and hold us for ransom. If I tell him how much money I have these buyers willing to pay, then I’m hoping he starts thinking that he can get us to ask for it as a ransom. It may be a long shot, but I figure the lad thinks we are coming there with tons of cash, and at the very least he can steal that, so it helps when I keep putting off his pleas for money. When you book an air flight (or hotel, cruise ship, ect) online, you don’t get an actual ticket these days. It’s all done by computer, so that email confirmation I got, the one I sent you a copy of, is all I need to bring to the LAX airport. They have been doing air flight this way more and more in recent years, everything is so computerized now; in some ways it’s really convenient, but it also makes things seem so much less physical and personal. I just show them that confirmation printed out, along with my passport for ID, and they have the booking number (the one on the email confirm) in the computer system. The email confirm has the flight numbers and times of departure/arrival. I didn’t know many people still used the old fashioned way of getting tickets, but then I do know some people don’t like doing everything exclusively online. I prefer to, though, it is so much easier than getting paper tickets that can be lost. The security and the airlines like it because it helps prevent fraud; a person can’t show up with a booking number but no ID that matches the name on the booking, and since it’s all done by computer the tickets can’t be stolen and used by someone else.

Speaking of my passport, mine was sitting on the rack in the room where my water heater broke, and it was ruined by the water damage. But don’t worry, I have already put in the paperwork for a new passport, and my visa to SA, and I will have both by this Friday, so it’s not a problem.

Honestly, I am starting to get concerned. Everything had been progressing perfectly, and I sent both you and Mr Mpho the email confirm I got for the flight. Mr Mpho wanted to see the actual tickets, but I explained to him that when you book online through a 3rd party agency, it is all done by computer and I don’t get a physical ticket. I take the email confirm to the airport, with my ID, but now he is talking about that he was unable to access the flight reservation himself. No one can actually access the full booking but me because it has my credit card info on it, for security reasons, but as you will see in the confirm I sent you and him, it has the flight number, departure dates/times, and the terminal for him to have his driver meet me at in SA. I kinda blew up at him, but I am exhausted from spending this week packing up all that cash into the cages and crating them up, and I am starting to get very stressed out from lack of sleep, hard physical work and the stress of preparing a trip and to bring that much cash.

I have over $1.4 million in cash that is in $100 bills, I have to spray each stack with anti-dog sniffing spray and then load them into the false bottoms of the cages; you wouldn’t believe how long it takes to do all that for that much cash. I also have had to deal with getting me and Pete’s pets boarded while we’re gone, and take care of all kinds of little things before our trip. I am so tired, and now I am stressed out that Mr Mpho is suddenly questioning things, I have spent a huge amount of money already getting the flight tickets (it’s very expensive to ship cargo, and I am bringing another animal for a buyer in South Africa). I HAVE to get those health certificates and the photos of the animals by this week, so I can send them to my buyers and they can start the paperwork for giving me the payment for the animals. I would appreciate it if you would drop a quick email to Mr Mpho and let him know that I need those certificates and photos of the animals (just a couple pics would be fine, one of the lions and one of the gremlins) as soon as possible. He also wants Pete to call him, but then he said it’s just so he can familiarize himself with Pete’s voice. I don’t understand what the point of that is, it’s an expensive call and our time difference is pretty big, we are working our butts off and we need our sleep. Pete isn’t going to make a middle of the night phone call all the way to SA just so someone can hear his voice. However, I told Mr Mpho that if Pete can, he’ll call him before we leave for the airport, since we’ll be up earlier than we usually are. I have not only done everything possible to make this trip go smoothly, but I am bringing a lot of extra cash to give to Mr Mpho and the hunters as a generous bonus for their hard work, plus 4 laptop computers as gifts.

Look, I am SO tired, I am working hard to get this deal done, and I don’t have time to explain over and over how online flight booking works. JNB (the airport in SA) can confirm the flight we will be on, South African Airlines flight 204, is arriving at JNB airport at 8:30 am on Wednesday January 16th, at terminal A. They are not going to give the names of anyone’s reservation without confirmation that it is the person booking it, that is standard security measures. But the flight info is correct, I checked it myself. I have been getting everything ready for this deal on my end, and Mr Mpho has been extremely pleasant and professional to work with; but I need those health certificates and photos of the animals quick. If this deal falls through, I will be furious and I will out a lot of money. Mr Mpho will be out a lot of money too, that he has put up front for the expenses, and I don’t want him to lose his money, I don’t know why he is suddenly questioning the flight booking. Perhaps he is just nervous about the deal, it’s not exactly legal, especially since I am smuggling cash, but I have assured him that I have everything under control as far as the money goes, and I have everything ready for the trip except packing up the last few cages. Pete and I will be working hard the next few days to get those cages crated up, and we have to be at LAX airport at 8am Monday morning, since our flight leaves at 11:40am. We have to get there 4 hours early because we have those cages, and one live animal that we are bring to SA for another client, and it will take a long time to get them through security and loaded. I want to apologize for blowing up at you like that. I am really sorry, that was rude and uncalled for. I am just so tired, and I have been stressed out from dealing with the repairs to my home on top of getting everything ready for this trip. It was not right of me to get angry at you, and I am really sorry. Let’s just forget it happened, you have been so kind and professional, and I just had a moment of frustration and I should not have taken it out on you.

The confirmation number (AFF914) is not the number for the actual airline, it’s the number that came through the private (which means VERY discreet) booking agency. I actually don’t know what the number is for the actual tickets. I don’t need it, we just bring our email confirmation and our ID, and the flight is in their computer system under our password. But I have already called LAX and it is all set, our flight tickets are in the system and we are all set and ready to leave on Monday morning.

That’s great that I will be getting the health certificates tomorrow, the buyers need them as soon as possible so they can start the paperwork for the payment transfer. Remember, I will need a separate certificate for each animal, the doctor doing the exam has a standard exam certificate and just has to fill in the info for each animal on a separate certificate for each. You can tell them they can just number the animals (gremlin 1, gremlin 2, lion 1, ect). So we will have a total of 8 certificates, 6 gremlins and 2 lions. Fortunately that won’t be too much for you to have to scan in, it’s lucky we didn’t end up with 20 animals! Also, please don’t forget the photos of the animals, the buyers want those too. Just one photo of the lions and one photo of a couple of gremlins will be enough.

Have you booked the hotel yet? I’m not worried about it, I trust you to take care of it. I know you are probably as stressed out and exhausted as we are, so I think all of our nerves are frazzled. It will all be okay though, once we get there and get the animals paid for, the hunters paid and the computer gifts given, and you get your reimbursement for the money you have spent, then we can all relax for a few days while we wait for the payment from the buyers to come through. We will have a great time, and all this last minute stress will fade away and we will laugh at it.

I am really glad you understand that I did not mean to have an outburst toward you, sometimes nerves get frazzled and we say things we regret.

I have never had a hotel ask for a passport and flight ticket to book a room. Something doesn’t seem right with that, the person you talked to must have misunderstood you, or they were new and didn’t know what they were talking about. Did you go with an international chain like I asked? If so, they should make the reservation and at the most they would want a credit card to hold it, and I would just pay for the room myself when I got there so your card isn’t charged. If you don’t want to do that (and I am fine with that if you don’t want to do that, I don’t expect you to have to use your credit card to hold it, you have done enough) then we will just wait until we get there and we’ll get the room then. As I have explained, I won’t have an actual ticket number until we get to the airport, check in and give them our booking confirm, it is all in the computer system at the airport; but I have never heard of a hotel that asks for a plane ticket and a copy of ID to book a room (I’ve been asked for my ID or passport when I get there and check in, and that’s not a problem if this one will), no matter where it is. I am assuming that you have never dealt with online flight booking, since you keep asking me for a ticket, but as I have told you this is how it is done online. It’s okay, I understand you haven’t dealt with online travel booking very much before, it’s only been in the last few years that everything is completely computerized when it comes to booking flights, hotels, cruise ships, trains, ect. If it is going to be this much of a hassle to book a room before we get there, we can just wait until we get there.

Also, remember I told you that my passport was ruined when my water heater busted and flooded part of my house; when Pete and I got back from our last trip abroad and knew this one was coming up, he tossed his passport in with mine. I kept the passports in a basket that holds my wallet, keys, and such items, and it was sitting on the second to last shelf of a standing shelf unit in the my laundry room/foyer; so when the water heater busted and spewed water into the laundry room, it ruined everything in that room that was paper based. By the time I had told you about it last week we had already applied for new ones and we are hopefully getting them tomorrow, at the latest Saturday (they are going to my accountant since he fast tracked the paperwork to get new ones quickly and he is going to bring them to my house as soon as he gets them, he knows we need them by Monday morning). However, on the paperwork we had to fill in to get new ones, there was a part we had to sign that talked about how the new passports being made cannot be transferred over the computer to foreign countries, this is some new Homeland Security measure. It said that if we try to send the passport through the internet, the ‘transmission would be blocked’.

You said that we should conclude the rest of our business until Monday by phone, with Pete. Okay, first of all, Pete is not a business man, he is my employee and his job is to help me and be my business consort, but it is me that needs to handle the conversations with you, as it is my company and I have never had a problem before handling things with email. Like I said before, the time difference makes a phone call difficult, and since Pete and I have so much to do this weekend to get ready to leave, we can’t accommodate the time difference these last few days, we have to get some rest. I know you just want to hear his voice, but by this point we just have too much to do and it is too much of a charge to just let you hear his voice. We can’t do the rest of the business deal by phone, are you aware that ALL international phone calls both out of and into the US are monitored? It has been so since after 9/11, it started with Bush but Obama has continued it, and I am doing something that I could get in a lot of trouble for (the cash). Remember when I said that people who get caught smuggling drugs do so because they get sloppy and nervous? This is what I was talking about, we have to proceed carefully now. I have over $1.4 million in cash, and it is not going anywhere electronically, so if we start finishing this business by phone and sending the new versions of passports over the internet to foreign countries, we are going to get caught, and then you would be out all of the money you put into this. I am not kidding, all international phone calls in/out of the US are monitored, I think by the NSA (National Security Agency), you can look it up, it’s not even a secret. I went ahead and looked up a couple of articles about it and am giving you the links, I know you probably think it’s not how things are done in America, but most people in other countries have no idea just how things here have gotten as far as our loss of privacy and rights have gotten. I am not kidding, Mr Mpho, you have no idea how things have gotten here in the US as far as us citizens being monitored, tracked, and our actions watched.

These articles I linked to are about the monitoring program started under Bush, but Obama is still doing it, they claim it’s to fight terrorism, but given the nature of our deal, we have to be careful at this point. I wanted you to see that I am not kidding or joking, we really are being monitored here in the US. The articles are from 5 or so years ago, during Bush, but all of this is still going on and it’s even more widespread now. It’s even in mainstream news, so it’s not even a secret, they openly admit it.

However, when we get to the airport on Monday morning and we have gotten the cargo safely through security, I will have Pete buy a phone card (it’s cheaper than using his phone for the call) and have him call you from the airport to let you know we are on our way, if that will put your mind at ease. I don’t know what time it will be there in SA (it will likely be between 10am and 11am for us, on the west coast of the US, Pacific Standard Time), so it might the middle of the night for you. You just have to be careful not to say anything relating to our deal, it will have to be “Hi, we are on our way, Okay great, see you when you get here”. Here’s what I think might be going on; I think you are getting nervous, and that is understandable. We are doing a huge deal here, dealing with a lot of cash, and I have to be really, really careful that I do not raise any red flags before we leave the country. But I understand you are nervous, and I just want you to realize that in 3 days, we will be on a plane to South Africa and you are going to feel much better when we get there. However, this whole deal is now hanging on those health certificates and photos of the animals, I know you said you would have them to me by Friday (today) and I hope you will be true to your word. So while you have put a lot of blind trust in me, by paying up front for the hunters and the housing of the animals. I don’t want to live my life being paranoid about everyone, I want to be able to trust a person that I have talked with as much as I have with you. Sometimes we have to just take a chance on trusting people, but at the same time I do know how the US government has gotten really paranoid and changed the way our lives are controlled, so everything I am doing (or not doing) is so that we don’t get caught and neither of us lose money. I’m looking out for both of our interests.

Please don’t forget I need 8 separate certificates, one for each animal, and at least one photo of the lions and one or two of the gremlins. By the way, did I send you the photos of us with the crates in our warehouse? I sent them to Mr Anderson, but I wanted to be sure I sent them to you, too. If there is anything else I can do to ease your mind, of course besides illegally sending ID documents over the internet and making phone calls which could incriminate us, let me know. As I said before, we have to be up really early Monday morning to get to the airport, so I will email you when we get checked into LAX and then when we get to JFK, and Pete will try to call you from either LAX or JFK, depending on how rushed we end up. His cell phone gets charged for the minutes whether he calls you or you call him, so it’s much cheaper to just buy a phone card and call you from the pay phone at the airport. We must proceed carefully now, and I need you to trust me as this is what I do for a living, I am very good at it and I know what not to do to get caught. This is the point where your experience as a wildlife center manager is best used toward getting the animals and their documentation ready; my experience is best used toward making sure we do nothing to get in any trouble. You have to trust my judgement, and I promise you we will all have a great time while we’re there.

Did you ask the hunters about us all having a cookout, and giving me and Pete a chance to have some native South African food? I would really like that, maybe some of you know some people who play music; I’ve heard a South African ‘Afrikaans’ group called Die Antwoord, and I really like it, I would love to hear other South African music. I love music, and I love discovering music that is native to cultures completely different from mine. If we get some people at the cookout to play some music, especially if it has some good drumming, and we can get some good ‘firewater’, I will even get up and dance! When I am working out business deals, I am firm, cautious and I take no bullshit. But when the business is done, and I can finally just kick back and enjoy a few days while waiting for the payment (which is never a problem, these buyers are wealthy and pay as soon as they get those animals-very reliable!), I will let loose and have a great time. When I am in a foreign country on business and I am able to do that, my favorite thing to do is hang out with the locals who I meet through the business deal, outside in a beautiful setting and enjoy some local food and local music. I work hard, and play hard, that’s my motto.

So, I will be waiting on those certificates/photos today, and we will be doing all the last minute things over the next 3 days that we need to do to get ready to leave. Since we will be gone for more than a week total, we have a lot to do (get our pets boarded at the kennel, have our mail held, arrange for someone to come check on our houses and clean them, I need to deal with some of my other business, ect). I am concerned that I have not received the health certificates or the photos of the animals, you promised you would have them to me by Friday, and I believe it is now Saturday in SA (it’s about 8:40pm Friday here in LA). My buyers are not happy, they won’t even start the paperwork to transfer the funds until they receive both the certificates AND the photos, and they expected them today. I was counting on you to have made a solid deal with the animal doctors, and now BOTH of them have backed out? I am assuming these are the doctor from the zoo and the doctor from the company employing the hunters. First, the zoo doctor…all zoos know that the health of an animal must be proven before a sale is made, and I am not coming all the way to South Africa without proof of the animal’s good health, period. You need to go to that doctor today, the exams will have already been done anyway when you took the animals to the compound like you said, and get him to fill out the certificates. The health exam does not cost them anything, it’s not like they are giving anything away for free; the doctor knows what to look for, and will have some kind of form to fill out for each animal. The zoo doctor should give you 3 forms, one for the gremlin and two for the lions. Since you have already brought the zoo animals to be housed with the other gremlins the hunters caught, the zoo doctor would have already examined them to make sure they were fit to travel anyway. He already knows the condition of the animals, and he is certainly not going to receive any extra money for filling out a few pieces of paper, which is part of his job. As for the doctor with the company the hunters (and I am assuming you) work for, he too is not going to back out on his job. Since he is employed by the company selling the animals, and the cost of the health exams is always included in the price of the animal, it is his job to fill out those certificates, as the company he works for will be paid the cost of the animals and they pay his salary. He owes me 6 health certificates for the gremlins, and he needs to do them today. This was established at the beginning of this deal. You will have to demand that they do their job.

There is also the matter of the photos. As I told you, my buyers will not commit to any purchase without photographs of the animals as well as the health certificates. Since the animals are all housed at the compound you arranged, as you told me they are, I will need you to take a couple of photos today and send them with the certificates. You do not need to take 8 separate photos, just one of the lions and one or two of the gremlins will be fine, but I need photos of both types of animal. Trust me, taking a few photos is not nearly as difficult as loading over $1.4 million into the compartments of animal cages, like we had to do all week! It is unfortunate that the doctors have tried to pull a fast one, and it’s odd that both of them did so, but you are going to have to go to both of them today and get those certificates, whether you have to threaten them with a lawsuit or with an ass kicking. They have both backed out of not only their agreement, but their job. It will only take them a few minutes to fill out each certificate, and it will only take you a few minutes to take those photos.

I cannot wait until we get there, because the buyers will not begin to process their paperwork until the photos and the health certificates for each animal is received, and given how much money they are transferring to me, it will take longer than the 3 business days that we will be there. They are paying me one million dollars for each gremlin, and five hundred thousand for each lion; that is a total of seven million dollars ($7,000,000USD). Even though it’s split between 3 buyers, that is still far more money than they each have just laying around in their checking accounts, they have to go to their accountants, sell off stocks and bonds, make phone calls to offshore banks, and process paperwork to release the funds. We won’t be arriving in SA until Wednesday, and that leaves just Thursday and Friday as business days; that won’t work, they need to start the payment process this Monday, and they cannot do that without the certificates and photos.

You are going to have to demand these certificates, Mr Mpho, with every bit of menace you can muster up, or this deal will collapse. I am going to go to bed now, it is very late here, I have been up all night working on packing up the last of the cages, and we have worked our butts off getting our end of the deal ready. Pete is not going to be back from his mother’s until Sunday night, he has no cell phone service up there in the mountains and we are counting on these arrangements being complete by then, and then we are going to pack most of the night and go to the airport Monday morning. He said he will call you from the airport after we get the cargo (cages) checked in, that way he can get a phone card and use the pay phone, so it won’t use up his minutes on his cell phone. But please do remember what I told you about international calls into and out of the US being monitored, the conversation will have to be limited to ‘Hey, we are on our way’.

However, if you are unable to get these certificates and photos to me today, we will not be able to do this deal, as I have buyers who are counting on me to finish their purchase, and they are already very irritated now that things are running behind and there are problems at the last minute. My reputation, and both yours and my money, are on the line here. You are going to have to be firm and threaten to take action against the doctors, as they are not being asked to do anything that is not part of their job anyway, and that they should have already done. When I wake up later today, I hope to see the health certificates AND the photos in my email inbox. I explained to you that Pete would call you from the airport, and that we got our passports Friday. There is no reason to give you my passport anyway, that is my personal ID and you have no use for it. We would have been on our way in 26 hours if you had completed this deal as agreed, and I do not understand why there is a problem with these doctors. They have already done the exams, which is a part of their job, no one pays for health certificates before buying, or even seeing, the animal. This deal is falling apart, and I am very suspicious now of the intent and circumstances. I will not do anything, not give any phone numbers or even consider giving money, until I receive photos of the animals in their compound. I am deaf and cannot call, but I will not have Pete call Mr Mpho until I receive photos of the animals. If I receive the photos today, then we will continue this deal. I have already written Mr Mpho hours ago and explained this. He was on his way to leave for church when I sent the email early this morning, so he has had plenty of time today to take the photos and since I have not received any photos, I am under the belief he has not taken them and I am concerned that the animals are not even real. If the animals are at the compound in Mr Mpho's possession as he claims, then it is no problem to take the photos and prove to me the animals even exist. If I do not receive them today, then I will know this has all been an elaborate scam of some sort. I made it very clear to you that without the photos of the animals, I will not proceed with this deal. Pete and I waited at the airport until 11:30 am for those photos, and then we shipped the Sasquatch to SA, took our cages and went home. You want to know why he didn’t call you back? I gave you a simple solution to the problem of dealing with the health certificates, take photos of the lions and the gremlins, send them to me and then we would proceed, and I told you this nearly 2 days ago. I have realized that you and so called Pete are not genuine and as such will not get any of these. I have not seen on earth how a telephone number will not go through even now, still on voice mail rather you chose to be a liar by telling me the reason why he could not called back as if we have spoken on the telephone.

You posted a fake photograph of the Hollywood stars, Pete Lattimer and that of Joanne Kelly as you and Pete. That was very crook of you and to make matters worse, you brought a fake telephone number. Dear Mr Anderson,

I am sorry it took me a few days to respond to you, I have been very busy trying fill orders for my buyers, since the deal with Mr Mpho imploded. I do not blame you for it, since you have expressed your apology and made it clear you were not involved in any wrongdoing on his part, I believe you and I am willing to give your other contact a chance.

I am still looking for gremlins, they are very popular and I would have no problem selling them. I would also be interested in white lions, they are very rare and hard to find in private hands. However, I am not willing to go through the whole process of waiting for hunters to go out and acquire new ones (I do not believe Mr Mpho’s gremlins even existed anyway), I would need to know if this other contact of yours has any on hand, and can sell them immediately. I will also need health certificates and photos of the animals before I come to SA, this is non-negotiable, the health exams must be included in the price of the animals and for the prices I am willing to pay, this should not be a problem. The photos are for verification of the animals. As soon as I have verification, my cousin and I will get on a plane with standby tickets, since we spent so much money buying advanced tickets that we didn’t use, I would rather just go to the airport and get on a standby flight, it will be much cheaper that way.

I made it clear to Mr Mpho that I do not send any money up front, I come with cash and I am very generous in doling it out to those who help me. I also have 4 computers (2 ipads and 2 samsung tablets) that I bought for a good price for Mr Mpho’s deal, I would be glad to bring these as gifts for this new deal, as I do not need them and they did not cost me very much.

I look forward to hearing back from you, and hopefully we can continue business. I did lie to Mr Mpho about my photo, for my own protection. I would have sent real photos of me and Pete at the last minute, I assure you we are not ugly or hideous, we are just careful until we know a deal is going to work out at the last minute (there are many charlatans out there, you know). Again in this message is a copy of my International Passport we need to know each other since we are doing this business together we need to know who and who we are dealing with in person i mean your International passport or a Drivers License ID as i have has conclude with Mr. Smith Athuepe on how he is going to help us get the animal in Africa.

And so concludes my first posted bait, but the bait is still going! Mr Anderson now has this guy who is supposedly able to provide the animals I want. I wasn't sure if that bank account was good, I couldn't check it on the sites suggested by others, but I'll go ahead and send it to Alan, since the lad did want me to deposit money in it and he was serious, I'm pretty sure it's real.

I noticed too after I hit post that the lavender is way too bright, I won't use it again. Even I had trouble seeing it! Thanks guys!!

Maybe! I was given the email of the new SA contact today, so I'm going to contact him, and I can throw out jubjub and snark along with the gremlins. I've already established I prefer 'rare' animals, so it probably wouldn't be too suspicious. But, he is getting a bit difficult in general, so with this new contact I'm considering not doing whole 'employ hunters and find the animals', I'm going to ask straight away for the animals in a seller's possession, and not do anything until I get pictures of them. My plan is to get arrested trying to smuggle cash out of the US, but I won't try to leave until I get a trophy.
