I’m new here so forgive me if this is a common practice or has already been tried.

Has anyone ever tried just flooding the inbox of the scammers. e.g. subscribing them to a bunch of email newsletters that go out several times a day (deal a day sites, porn sites, etc?). I realize they can just get a new email address but if each time you flood an email address with unwanted emails it will get frustrating for the scammer to set up a new one each time.

As for your question, it would have the same effect as shutting down their e-mail accounts: That we lose track of them, and their boxes that get posted on scam warning sites aren't useful anyway.

To add to the foregoing answer: it is useless. A scammer simply opens a new e-mail address in 3 minutes and is back in business.

Any ongoing law enforcement investigation (should there be one) of this scammer might be hindered or even thwarted when the scammer changed e-mail accounts.

And, finally, there are LOTS MORE fun things to do to scammers besides flooding their e-mail accounts with mail.

When I first joined I had similar questions. Basically any activity that would provoke a lad to change accounts is highly frowned upon. Initially I thought this was just the community protecting their baits. I still think in some cases this is true and some baiters consider a funny picture more important than actually protecting potential victims. I think this type of baiter is the exception though. The work done over at scamwarners is a good example of why we don't want lads changing accounts. Lads are lazy as shit. They don't change scripts or sometimes even the bloody name. This information is therefore easily searchable for any potential victim that starts looking into the proposal. That forum is FULL of people with just one post saying "wow so nearly scammed but thankfully I googled some info and found this scam warners site". Their email address is our handle on these people and we do not want to lose that handle.

Well said flibble, my scam warning email address gets half a dozen or more emails a day from potential victims saying "thanks for posting the email address, I googled it and found your site".

According to one of my Vlads today, someone did that to him. I almost deleted his mail.

It may appear that we are protecting our baits but this changes the possibility of someone finding it.

Before I ever heard of baiting I used to hang onto all of their E-mails on Word documents. Then whenever I would get one I'd make a new document and reply to them by saying I'm sorry I'm too busy helping all of your friends. Then I'd attach all of the previous Word Docs trying to fill their E-mail space up. I probably wasn't helping much by doing it but at that time it was the only way I could think of to fight back.

Here you will find many many ways to waste the Lads time and as long as you Bait safe you can have a lot fun doing it.

Email addresses are unlimited.

Scam formats are unlimited.

The capacity of lads to take abuse and righteous indignation from baiters, victims, and anyone else is...unlimited.

What IS limited is their time, resources (read £££), and humanity (especially their humanity).

If there's one thing I've learned from reading these forums, it's that mailbombing, flaming, and ranting do nothing.

Find ways to waste their time. That way, they're sitting in paid-per-hour cybercafes, wasting their limited waking hours, answering futile queries, spending money on photos and scanning, and filling in interminable Secure Vaullt questionnaires...THAT is the time they're not spending scamming people who don't know any better.

^ you forgot to mention travelling hundreds of miles after illusions and lies, shrieking in fear at curses and omens, being squashed by taxis, being locked in an Egyptian prison ..

Make them do the ranting, flaming and spouting off, it's what we pay them for anyway (or would, if we ever did)
