Every once and again there comes a thread where ethics is discussed, and no i don't want to start one here.
What i do want is to give a good reminder to why we do this, and for the newbs a example how heartless lads can be.

I am baiting this lad and when it came to payday i said that i had to take the money from my children's savings. Savings that are to give them an education. In short their future. I also told him that i was advised that this might be a scam.

This is his reply.

I will also advice you not to listen to anyone as they may give you the wrong advice, I have being a lawyer for almost 25yrs and have given legal advice to people like you and they have never had any course to regret it.

Therefore I am advising you to send this money so that I can secure these documents on your behalf. Remember that you are not sending this money to me for my own benefit but for securing the required documents which will effect the release of your fund to your bank account.

Do as I have just told you and you will never regret my kind advice to you. Now try as much as possible to send in the money by tomorrow so that I can proceed in securing this documents on your behalf with immediate effect.

That's nothing. They would say to send the money even if you told them it's for your child's chemo. We've seen that before.

Yes there are cases even worse that this. Probably a lot more and a lot worse.

I have heard of the chemo one to.

That aside, even this quite moderately heartless lad proves my point though.

I have thought about running a series of baits (or maybe a single bait) and see if I could reach a limit beyond which the lad would not want me to go to obtain money. The idea would be to gradually ratchet up the level off crime required to obtain money to send the lad and see if there would come a point at which he would say, "Don't do that". It could make a rather interesting psychological study.

I think that there have been a case where the lad said stop. But i cant remember the thread or the circumstance.

But i think that most lads wouldn't care if you killed your kid for the insurance money as long as he got his pay.

Asking for slaves can make them say when. I've tried that a couple of times (I sometime mention buying slaves, just to see how they react). But just as often, they agree to do it.

I've had lads lie about my associate Mr. Schmuck (a character I made up in an ASEM) was at the hospital or even dead, just to get the 53,500 USD I was going to transfer. Lads are bastards, and don't you forget it!

IIRC, someone here was baiting as a 13 year old girl who said she would prostitute herself to get money. I'm pretty sure the lad told her not to...hard to believe I know.

I once told a lad I would have to steal from my employer, thus risking my job. He told me to go ahead because I could just put the money back after the payoff came through.

ETA: for all I know it could have been the same scumbag that Dr. Mike is dealing with.

@ raga that is an interesting idea. I wonder if a lad would be ok with you selling your Childs seeing eye dog that he had to wait 5 years to get. It would be interesting to take a small test group of 5 lads or so and see how they would let you take it.

Maybe, just to push the limits, I might have one of my characters to ask a lad for couple of extra days to pay because he has to send his 13 year old daughter out to turn tricks to raise the money. . . naaah! Any lad worth his salt would just be charitable and give him the two days.

@ ScammedOut: I think I remember that one as well.

One possible explanation I thought of is that most lads seem to think that all Westerners have unlimited wealth and resources at their disposal, so it is possible that they don't really think we wouldn't be able to afford any school/hospital fees.

At the same time, I've explicitly said many times that I really need the money, and they always say it'll be back on time... Evil or Very Mad

At first I thought that was a euphemism for something. Then I saw who posted it Very Happy

It's good to post these sorts of things every once in a while. It's hard to argue FOR someone who's willing to tell you those sorts of things and reassure you that everything will be fantastic, when you outright KNOW that's not the case. I myself like to make lads suggest that I pick sending them money over giving it toward the medical bills of a dying family member. Not because I'm morbid, but because once they've done so it's impossible to feel bad about anything you do to them during the bait.

Sunshines bait was the one i remembered reading. It shows that some lads do have a heart even though you have to dig really deep to find it.

But as Sunshine said some (most) lads are utterly and totally ruthless without an ounce of sympathy in their body.

^^^ I'm of the opinion that in that case the lad probably thought "nobody is going to try and track me down for scamming, but the probably will if they think I'm anything to do with child porn"

In other words, the lad likely declined not out of a sense of morality but self-preservation.
