I'm new here, I joined this forum once about 2 years ago, after a romance scam. (To my embarrassement, but I did catch on to it, never lost any money just a little pride).
ANYway.....that's been about 2 years ago.
Just the other day I received one of those emails where they want to deposit millions in my account...and I get to keep 2.5 mil!!! WOW!!!!
(Just think...I'm gonna be rich!!!) roflmbo
So this is my first time to EVER scambait one of those suckers.
Just wanted to introduce myself, say hello and start reading to get some ideas!
I've put him on hold for a few days....told him/her a pack of lies to delay the interchange. I said it being the weekend, I haven't access to info, I'm elderly and can't get around very well to get to info, and Monday is a holiday so it's going to be a few days before I can get back to him/her with the required info.
He/she wants all my bank account information, passport info, phone numbers....you name it he/she wants it.
Of course I know that everything has to be fake.

It's payback time......I'm gonna have me a little fun now.
Can't wait to get started...I guess, actually I have already gotten started.

I have a question tho.....would it be advisable to ask my new found friend in such need to move over to an email address to get out of my regular email box? I don't know how they got that email address.
Do you ever move them to another email address you set up special for your scambait project?

I'm glad to hear that you figured out the romance scam in time! (sorry about the bruised pride though).

To answer your question: You should drop contact with this scammer from your regular account. Don't move them over to another account by maintaining that bait, just re-bait it from the beginning from a whole separate (fake) account as if you received the email there.
We do, always, bait from accounts specifically set up for baiting and not our real life accounts.
You can read a lot more about this in the sticky topics in the scambaiting help forum. Feel free to ask questions there too.

Also, you don't just have to bait the emails that come into your account. Check out the surplus forum; you can write to any of the scammers there and bait away!

Yeah, I just thank my lucky stars I caught it in time...because there on the last he was really pressuring me to send him some money.

Anyway, so I just go set up a new email and start emailing this scammer from there.
So I think at first I misunderstood your instructions....
drop him and rebait from another account?
Ok, that's what I will do.

Now I need to go find another email account.
